I'd do it no problem. My only worry would be if it broke down. However i've done 4000 miles without any major problems in mine so I can't see why it would decide to play up just because your doing a fair few miles in a few days.
Looks like a good buy. My issue with them is reliability. My GF Mum's has broken a fair few times. Its a FSH 50,000 mile 04 plate car, so its well maintained and has low mileage yet it still breaks a lot.
My 1.2 however had no problems atall in the 2 years I had it with similar circumstances...
I thought you where going for a 172 last month?
I wouldn't bother trying to convert your 1.4 into a 1.6. Your cars in good condition and will have good resale prospects. Start chopping and changing engines etc and it won't.
I'd only do it if you going to go all the way with the engine and...
He means exhaust manifold mate. I remember Martin saying how impressed he was with it. Others say there isnt much difference, I can't give an opinion as i've not tried a 182 manifold.
Looks good. Still don't think i've bumped into you at a meet. Met Ste_182 loads of times.
Cimate controls a rare option on the 1.2's, especially the early ones like yours. Makes it look more like a real RS though, shame about the sunroof.
Mint as in bodywork with nackered engine or Mint as in fully mint ;)
In reply to OP make sure its had belts done and has good service history. Then tell him its at least £500 over priced, although more like £800.
I don't really get abuse of my mates about my car. They just think its an old, loud, badly built shed. Which is essentially what it is. Only one of my mates is into cars really, he was mightily impressed with it.
My girlfriends mate asked the other day if it was a Corsa. I very nearly didn't...
Sounds decent. Check service history etc.
Tbh for that sort of money i'd be looking at something like a diesel mondeo. Can get them for £3500 with around 80K miles on 04/05 plates with fsh.
Will do 50ish mpg and be a hell of a lot better built than a Clio and not a great deal more to run...
I'd just bang some lowering springs on it. I don't mean to cause offence but is it realy worth spending £350 on a car thats only worth a few hundred quid...
I'd get eibach sportlines personally. They're a big improvement over standard. Cup springs will make hardly any noticable difference. Not much lower or stiffer.
I've driven a 1.2 TCE MK3 and it did feel a more grown up car. It did feel more solid, like things would last better. However it was brand new so not really a fair test to my then three year old 1.2
I would like to think build quality has improved though. Only time will tell though.
The only issue i'd have with this is that it c***s up the milage recording and can make the car look dodgy to future owners.
I do prefare the ph1 dials though, looks good.
I'm sure you'll notice a difference. Really though if your looking for proper gains you need to be looking at ITB's, Supercharger or turbo conversion. All of which cost a lot of £££
Personally i've got a ktec stealth, purely for the noise, and apart from that a standard engine. I wouldn't...
Glad your happy with it mate. Insurance is a bit of a pain but on this site some pay £30 a month for insaurance some pay £200+ its down to what you can afford and are prepared to pay I supose.
