Thats pretty impressive. My 1.2 would do around 45-48mpg @ 70mph. If the ph1 does 40-41mpg @ 70 i'll be more than happy.
The difference between the two isn't huge anyway. I only do 7000 miles a year.
I'd keep one of the Clio's and get a bigger family car. Best of both worlds. I'd avoid the 106, its a tin can, wouldn't feel safe in one myself let alone with a child.
Think i'll do that then. I'll prep them myself, so they're smooth, then have them powder coated.
When the tyres go that it, probably after winter too so they stay nice and clean through the summer.
Thanks for the advice mate.
Can you have them powdercoated in silver and it still be shiney etc? Whats a ball park figure per wheel to get it done?
Obviously i'd have to wait untill I changed the tyres too.
I think i'm going to. It will be a weeks hard work but i'm sure it will be worth it.
Can anybody recommend a particular type of paint? Also what colour paint should I order. I just want them to be the standard silver.
Is it worth a go?
I'll follow the guide and have a week to do it because i'll have the 172 a week before I can insure it.
Worst case I c**k it right up and have to have them done properly and i'm 50 quid down.
Cheers,
Brett
I'm thinking of getting some of these next time I need tyres. I can get PE2's fitted for £230 from Costco.
V12 Evo's are 130 delivered. Can probably get all 4 fitted for £20 as my Grandad knows a tyre fitter.
So for the £80 difference which would you recommend.
I'd just learn with an instructor tbh. Going out in a car with a person who probably has no driving qualifications other than DSA test will probably just lead to you getting into bad habits and slow you down if anything.
They're reasonably nippy. As a standard car it's the handling that would worry me, I know my 1.2 was poor and had too much body roll.
However I haven't driven one so I can't comment. They look good and your only paying for half of it so why not.
Considered the dci? Not as quick 0-60 but...
I have always been planning it. Only ever from the end of this month though. I've been saving for a year and needed to remind myself why i'm doing it regularly lol
It's going tomorrow, 2.1K cash.
2005 55 plate 1.2 16v Extreme 4.
43K with FSH.
Tax untill end of month. MOT untill October.
The body work is very poor though.
I had a bump and had the wing, bumper and headlight replaced. The paint is flaking off the bumper, the headlight insert colours...
I know. I only went to view it to get a feel for the ph1 to be 100% it was the car for me. When I phoned up I asked about the belts and he started going on about oil changes etc I knew they hadn't been done.
I got there and it was clearly a dog. Even though it was a dog I fell the the ph1...
