As much as i'd like a 182, it would be stretching the budget. I realy like the ph1's and its a bit of a project/learning curve too so thats all part of the decision.
I know a lad who has gone from 5th to 2nd at 80 in a 1.2 16v. It went past the limiter, dash lit up like an xmas tree. He stoped turned the car off and then on again, its still running fine 2 years on. Got lucky I guess.
Re: ***How much is my car worth?***
I'm selling my car atm and want some advice.
2005 55 plate 1.2 16v Extreme 4
44K with FSH
Requires:
Front bumper spray
Dent removing from NS door (door slightly pushed in)
Rear bumper has a scuff
Few regular sratches and small dents.
Tax untill end of...
I do see your point, however the 172 is definately a step in the right direction. The difference between a 2001 ph1 and a 2002 ph2 isn't going to be huge is it? Only a year difference.
If I wanted a car the same age as mine it would have to be a 182 which is over budget to me as I want no...
Pm'd
Phoned up two people today. One was sold and the other isn't in stock yet.
I know a ph2 would make a better daily driver but I much prefare the look of the ph1.I don't do big mileage either, the furthest I go is 50 miles to lancaster and if I went any further than that it would...
Looks like i'll have to start making the longer trips then. I'm not overly fussed about it, it just seems unlucky that the best cars are furthest away from you. If you live in the south west there seems to be loads of good ph1's.
I can't drive it home, can't get insured untill the 30th of this month. I'd need to go down, agree the deal, pay a deposit then get my dad to drive it home on day insurance as i'm under 21. Major ball ache.
I haven't got the time or money to spend weeks up and down the country looking at...
I've had a look on PH. Everything seems to be down south though. I'm only willing to travel for a minter. I'd prefare to find one slightly closer to home if possible.
As above realy, went down to a garage in manchester. The car was a Y plate, Iceburg Silver, 72K and FSH. Advertised at £2900 sounds good......
I get there and it has:
Cracked fog
Nakered paint on the OS door and front bumper
NS skirt coming off
FSH has no evidence of belt change
Power...
I wouldn't touch one that had never had a belt change. Even if you had the intention of getting them done straight away they could even snap on the way to the garage.
Lack of servicing does no car any good, but a car like a 172 which are usually driven hard need good regular services to keep...
I agree it shouldn't break however people think FSH is just having it serviced once a year, a lot of people don't even know what a cambelt it and when dealers say it will cost £800 they tend to leave them.
You could try telling the garage that they advertised it with FSH, however it does not...
It's your car mate you don't need to justify it to anybody tbh.
My mates at the minute are all starting to upgrade to 1.6's such as mk6 zetec s fiesta's, astra 1.6's etc because "they're fast as fcuk" and will laugh at me when I turn up in a ph1 172 becuase it's old, 5 years older than the...
Where the belts changed at the correct intervals? I.e. 36K or 3 years for Aux belt and 5 years or 72K for cam belt?
If they hadn't been done you should have not bought the car or had them done imediately, they will break if not replaced on the F4R engine, there is usually a fair few snapped...
