The short version is no, if you want a true increase in power and not Bulls**t, then you need to do some proper modifications - ignore people who say you will have 200bhp with a remap as PH and ebay are full of them.
I think the best thing to do is experience an rs2'd car, then you will an informed opinion on both sides.
We can all sit here quoting RR graph after RR graph, but get out there and get a ride in one.
It doesn't make it a Ferrari beater, but it does improve the driving experience.
Oh...
The K in my old Elise is now on 103k - original gasket.
I really like them, the basic 118bhp makes max torque at 3000rpm and max power at 5500rpm, so it never 'feels' fast but I like how they drive.
As Scrooge said, if the gasket is fixed properly, then it won't go again (Well not...
Dan's is the first rs2'd car I've driven and I've always kept quiet about the rs2 for the very reason I've never experienced it.
Now I have, it is a very odd experience - as I've said before in this thread, it is 100% different to a normal f4r, feeling more powerful and delivering power so...
we all need to remember how different one F4R is to another - one engine makes 175bhp / 155 lb ft as standard, where another makes 160bhp / 145 lb ft.
Comparing car to car / mod to mod will always happen but is largly pointless
Everyone has their own views remember guys, we are all...
Probably because everywhere sells 97 so easier to get :)
I have driven this car, and it does pull very well, and it's spooky how linear the power is - it just doesn't want to stop pulling!
Will be good to compare it to the S2000
I'm trying to find that out, previous owner can't quite be sure but he thinks it has got one, though it's not speed limited, and it has a UK wiring loom in it, so will be doing some research to find out.
First trip when it's on the road is over to my mates rollers to check if it's safe
It really is mate, really suprised me how linear the power is - you have said many times it makes track driving even better and I can see why with that power delivery!
Drove this at the weekend - combination of the RS2 and 197 cams is eeary - It pulls hard from low revs, but where as in a standard car it pulls ok, then comes the 'kick', and you get the usual tail off, this doesn't have a kick - it just pulls, then pulls, then pulls some more lol. It is so...
You MUST come and drive it
Standard one mate, though it's a JDM engine, so apparently slightly higher compression and about 10bhp more apparently (247bhp) :)
Lol beat me to it :rasp:
Update time!
So the short version is I bought this:
It's a 2000 year JDM F20C which has covered 69,000 miles, which (although I wasn't planning on buying an engine yet) it was offered to me at such a good price I couldn't refuse
And this...
Pop back and have a read of my first post in this thread mate :)
Yeah I know Neil, he did the geo on my Elise :)
You're fully welcome to mate :)
Flol - I think thats the first F&F quote in here!
Hopefully ;)
I see you're partly in Cheltenham mate - I'm only in malmesbury and I work in Cirencester, so once it's on the road you're welcome to come over and we can go for a spin/have a nosey over it/check fit/size/boot size etc, make sure that if you do go for one it will fit your needs :)
I would say the S2000 does give 70% of the fun of an Elise but 80% more practical lol
This was my thread at the time mate, it was an S1 - And I can't wait to get another :)

You know me, i'd normally have it in by now, but it's going to be after Xmas - too busy this week lol x
Good lad!
I am very much looking forward to getting it on the road, will be great fun until I get another Elise, miss my old one :( )
Agree, the 16's just look too small, the larger...
