Well not such a good result from last weekend event at Harewood I finished 12th out of 22 with a time of 71.99 which is a couple of 10th from my previous best.
1st practice went ok but I had another off at the 1st corner ,followed by the 2nd and 3rd corners :dapprove: which I initially put...
Looks very smart on the gold wheels
Gearboxes are a pain after looking for ages to find a final drive pinion gave up and bought a box off Burpspeed which I have just collected from Agency who rebuilt it with a Quaife diff which I will hopefully have fitted to the car in the next couple...
I have rear toe OUT which helps turn in but as Fred says its whatever set up your happy with.
Also had a rear ARB which made it all to tail happy so removed it.
Cheers Tony , at Harewood its all about pb's as there are some well sorted cars that dont go anywhere else.My best time is 71.70 if I can get in the 69's I will be well chuffed.
I am a bit unsure about the timing , the guy who did it knows his stuff but I am not 100% sure he used the official renault tools, might get 428's done at the same time.
My next event is this saturday at Harewood hillclimb which is excellent for spectating and has a large entry in our class of 22 ! Weather is looking wet which helps to level out all the rapid cars.
It also has plenty of info for competitors and spectators as they have split timings (5 points)...
Cheers chaps, I know the leak down test is best as it tells you if your loosing pressure through the valves or the pistons but as long as it looks ok thats one less worry.
My concern is it only made 166 after mapping with matched inlets and a stealth exhaust which isnt massively low its on the...
I have just tested my car and got the following
From cambelt end
1. 165
2. 170
3. 180
4. 170
No 3 had oil around the metal part of the plug suggesting it wasn't tight enough? And I could see wet on top of the piston through the plug hole ? Oil ?
What's a normal reading for...
Cheers Jay glad your happy with it, does it cut understeer and if so have you had to adjust your set up to suit ? pm if you prefer ;)
I was just thinking if it does I may need to remove my rear ARB as it may be too tail happy as it caught me out on my last event.
Hi Tony/Jay
Looks like a good days motorsport , how did the diff perform ? do you think its made much difference to your lap times ?
Mines on its way from Quaife and managed to get it done in a week instead of the 2-3 quoted after a bit of chasing :)
Hi mate,
Only just spotted this as I am always spying on Russ but dont tell him.
The Konis are great , what tyres are you fitting ? AD08 get my vote but aint cheap , not sure what you mean about the rear trim ? as the only thing you can remove is carpet and underlay otherwise you will end up...
Cheers Tony , sprintcup has kindly offered me his gear change kit as he has it already so will get it fitted as it's the second event in a row that I have had selection problems and as we get so little time to get everything right that it's one less thing to go wrong.
Also need to think exactly...
Aintree yesterday
Not the best of days for me but thats how it goes sometimes :dapprove:
1st practice went with out any problems did a 56 something
2nd practice checked tyre pressures and firmed up the rear shocks saw me a few tenths quicker than last year so looking good
1st timed run..1st ...
Curborough ? yes I have been there and a couple of years or so ago and nearly put my trophy in the banking on the first corner ! looks an easy course but all the time is made on the 1st bend.
I would say that 1 3/4 is max on road tyres and the toe out is really for track use as it may catch you out in the wet but its all very subjective as I am sure some one will use lots more, its a question of what feels best to you.
