this should really be made into a stick or a guide!!
friend of mine bought a 172 with this exact problem, an hour of swearing late and its all fixed, with a grand bill of £0!! minus the cost of the cable tie!!
hardest thing i found was getting the cover off, my 6mm socket was too chubby for...
im pretty certain there is no law against removing a cat, providing the car still passes an emissions test.
OBVIOUSLY the car wont pass an emissions test, but without testing it at the roadside, they cannot prove this!!
ive had my car checked over many times by police (they like pulling me...
well assuming you can get 2k for a 172, and hes talking about spending 2k, id say a budget of £4,000
of course you could have a better car for the money you spend on a clio, but all id want to do if i bought a better car, would be spend money on it!!
and its not about having a better car...
on the other hand, i bought my mk1 for about £1000,
and ive spent most of my weekends building it up, and god knows how much money.
its by my hobby and i have no regrets on the money that "ill never see again" because ive got so much enjoyment out of driving it, the money ive spent is more...
some people love their money too much.
dont let people tell you how to spend yours!!
sure most of the 172's with money spent on them will be for track, but that doesnt make them any more likely to get the money back!! if it's your hobby and its something you enjoy, spend as much money as you...
pollybush suspension,
pollybush dogbone,
coilovers,
topmounts,
tyres,
decat,
matched inlets,
remap,
steeringwheel,
HC discs and decent pads
would be what i would do
just as i was accpeting that i wouldnt work, to go and show me this tony!!
from that picture it looks like your mount is very similar to the R19 mount!!
implying that the set up will work!! lol
would it be strong enough to not avoid using the top mount completely??
and would you be able to make another one at a cost?? i dont have any welding/bending facilites :(
also, pics!! if you have any to hand!!
Sorry to post up extra threads about this, but would like to get to the bottom of my mounting issue.
can someone please post up a picture of a bare mk2 front subframe?!
from the top, and possibly from the side!
thankyou
was it much different than that of the R19 mount shown above??
based on this image
of the 172 mounting system, the front mount is identical,
and im 90% certain that the dogbone will also be identical, its just the front mount im slightly worried about.
i already have vibratechnic's mounts and a pollybush dogbone, but they still allow a lot of movement because the top mount is so far from the where the force is.
plus i love the look and it makes it much more easier to work on the engine. i can get the mounts for £40, and sell my mounts for...
2inches of movement in the rear wheels and you didnt notice when looking over the car?! I bought a car that turned out to be a heap once, the only person you can be angry at for that is yourself.
as for (almost completely unrelated) bonnet catch, im sorry to hear that, and hope it all gets...
Perhaps...
but being on the arse end of the insurance ladder, paying some fantastic figures for insurance over the past few years, and accepting thses prices without complaint.
and genunily being in pain (ive been perscribed painkillers for a sprained back), AND given my current financial...
The cup race cars and R19 run completely subframe mounted.
as does my mate on his valver and it seems to work very well.
picture above shows how it works, and i wanted to know if it would work on a mk2 subframe!
