The standard ECU is a very capable unit - it will make small adjustments, in fact it made enough adjustments that when i converted to my itb setup, the ecu adjusted enough to safely run the car.
A remap will improve it, but I would carry out all the modifications you want to do first, as the...
Search button is your friend ;)
The long and short of it is no, you can buy 172's from a grand - it will cost you more than that to have the engine, gearbox, suspension, brakes and wheels fitted to your car
Welcome David,
I think your biggest issue will be parts availability and help - if you wish to keep with your current engine, then a full rebuild will be the best option, but as you say other things are needed on the car also.
With regards to engine conversions, you have to remember you will...
Welcome to last year ;)
In serious, yes it was additctive at the start, i maxxed out a henessy venom, but sold it as it didnt grip enough even with all mods and tweaks, now running a 1550bhp Veyron, but points are too low, it takes 200+ drag races now just to make one upgrade.
I really like my Galaxy S, I prefere it to Claire's phone, but that may be because I don't use all it's features, but for me, and what I use it for, the S is spot on, and I am due my upgrade soon, so this I will be very interested to see
182 doesn't have a maf or an idle control valve, if i was to guess id say either lambda probe or coolant temerature sensor, but id take it somewhere for a proper diagnosis dude
Flol!
Nope, still got it Wurzle, collected it tonight, it's been away for a week having a new cambelt kit fitted, the rear raised up a bit and the exhaust stripped off to find where it's blowing.
Belt change went well, idler was nearly shitting itself so good job it was done, and the rear has...
MAP sensor is on the drivers side of the inlet manifold, plugged in the side, as Fred said though mate, get some proper diag done on it, it will save you money in the long run

Still as said, that was someones pride and joy at some point! Picked up from the dealers all shiney
Combe is an odd one, as I only live 8 miles or so away, I have spent half my life there it seems and it's like Pod - it has it's own weather system lol.
So although it says rain, there is just as much chance it will be hot and sunny!
Should be a good day mind, my club has a spot in the paddock...
If it is a small leak, it might not be spotted if the person doing it either can't be bothered or isn't trained correctly, iv seen cars in at work who have been into somewhere for a re gas, but it didn't last long before it didn't work again, and when we looked at it it literally had sprayed the...
Pro's only tend to lower approx 15-20mm, if you want it a little lower then sport lines should drop it circa 30mm.
I had pro's on my 172 and did many a track mile in it and was great
If you just want noise then any open induction kit will do that mate, all will give the same results though which is normally a loss in power.
A panel filter, matched inlet manifold and a custom remap would make a difference
To be fair, i see a lot of cars through the workshop, and generally they are pretty reliable - we had a 59 plate mk6 Golf in last week, 98,000 miles on it and its only had tyres, servicing and brakes.
A 53 reg passat today still on the original turbo and only 2nd clutch -296,000 miles.
07 reg...
As what Dave says below mate, plus injectors, fuel lines etc have to be reliable under massive amounts of pressure.
Oh, just for s**ts and giggles:
These prices are for new outright engines, you can buy exchange ones which drop circa 15% off the price.
These are complete engines, but with...
For your first track day, run on your road tyres.
Nothing worse than running on a track ehich you have no experience, on wheels are tyres you don't know what they will be doing under the car.
Do one as your car is, get some tuition and it will be fine dude :)
