A good tell tail sign if you don't have a multimeter is to remove the spark plugs, which ever one is black/dirty is good sign that the injector on that cylinder has failed.

What I tend to do is make sure all the splines are completely clean use a bit of brake cleaner and a small flat screwdriver to scrape in between the splines.

Totally see where you are coming from there, cars going to be off the ground so it's only the sump plug and fitted to remove.

Just unplug them, years in the motor trade and I can safely say I have never personally disconnected a battery when doing this for the sheer fact it adds more time to the job and half the time you end up having to put sodding radio codes in afterwards haha
