Anyone ever made a front splitter?

This is what I would expect, as said the principles behind the idea prove that spillters, under trays, diffusers and spoilers all work but race teams and manufactures spend millions in development and design on this things. There's clearly more to it then bolting on some plastic.

    Find the time haha

Anyone ever made a front splitter?

If I was designing such a item that would be my idea of testing. Set a number of laps without it fitted to gain a average lap time and then same again with it fitted. Same track, same day and same conditions fingers crossed but guess you can always rely on british weather.

Anyone ever made a front splitter?

I understand the principles behind it (discoveryHD haha) but a lot of people seem to bolt things to there motors with no real evidence how it has reduced lap times etc. As the for the sexuality reference.... Team Mincing Racing says it all haha

Anyone ever made a front splitter?

All well and good and looks like a couple of good quality pieces of kit but do you really benefit on track with either of these? Have you carried out any lap timing with and without and noticed an average time saving across a lap? just curious

    Quarter mile times!

Tbh that was my 3rd time up there too, I personally reckon there was a little more to gain from perfecting my launch technique

    Quarter mile times!

I've done a 14.7 at Santa Pod back in 2011 in my old 172 Clio, all to do with the launch really

    Battery not charging

You need a multimeter to check its charging not only at the battery but also at the alternator to eliminate any fault that could also lay between them. At the minute your just clutching at straws.

172 clio will crank but not fire

See if you are getting an A/C current from the crank sensor. But strange how it starts when you lock/unlock does sound as if it could be an immobiliser issue :s

bought a 172 to go to the nurburgring!

Personally unless its going to be used as an out and out track car adtwrwards I wouldn't go to the trouble of stripping. As for exhaust and filter the gains are usually minimal so depends if you can put up with the noise for 500 miles lol

bought a 172 to go to the nurburgring!

Suspension refresh, eibach or cooksport springs on cup dampers and a good service and some ferodo ds2500 and brembo h/c's. And a good service. Be a good little car then and more then capable. As said don't bother to much with bolt bits or hunting for power. I maybe would stretch to a whiteline...

    F12 DCM 182 Trophy 309/500

Yeah I did a trip to the ring a week after I bought it, only once ever let me down and that was a duff battery but every time I jump in it it makes me smile haha. Cheers for the pic, I'm hoping to hit the tracks this year, can't see me getting rid now, pretty much every ball joint and bushe has...

    **Doing cam belt/dephaser question**

This is a picture of all the genuine tooling you need, I paid around 130 for mine.

    **Doing cam belt/dephaser question**

As I said the dephaser shouldn't have any movement in it when you remove the belt. If it does it'll need replacing!

    **Doing cam belt/dephaser question**

Nope your not actually turning the engine over, the engine will be locked at this point. This is just to tension the belt! Tbh you seriously need to look of over the manual, the f4r is very similar to the ford zetec in how you change the belt, it sounds like you may be a little out your depth...

    **Doing cam belt/dephaser question**

There's a downloadable PDF somewhere for the genuine Renault manual. The only guide I know of is correct but it says pulleys don't need undoing unless you are changing the dephaser which is INCORRECT !Also if there's any movement within the dephaser when the belt is of it needs replacing

    **Doing cam belt/dephaser question**

Both the exhaust pulley and inlet dephaser need to be loosened to time the f4r up correctly. Neither the crank, exhaust or inlet are keyed (fully floating). Basically remover the dephaser, exhaust pulley and crank and de grease then refit loose so they are free to rotate. Fit new tensioner and...

    F12 DCM 182 Trophy 309/500

Totally different tbh, the 197 I enjoyed it but for different reasons. The 197 I found easy to drive fast and installed a lot of confidence in the driver and great traction but lacked the raw feel and always felt like it could of done with a little more poke. Where as the trophy is a little...

    Laguna F4p 1.8 Cambelt

As above, I've been asked to stick a new belt kit and dephaser on an engine for me mates Laguna. Looking at autodata and it lists the same horseshoe as used on the f4r and crank tdc pin but doesn't mention the tool used for locking pulleys to crack them off to set timing and tension correctly...

    Top End Rattle

Sounds like valve gear problem, certainly doesn't sound like a dephaser fault. If it is valve gear it'll no doubt require a top end rebuilt and cams, belts, rocker cover will all need removing so fairly labour intensive.

    Removing Oil Filter

Any oil that's within the filter will piss out, so it'll require topping up afterwards. Personally I wouldn't have bothered changing the oil and leaving a dirty filter on.

    F12 DCM 182 Trophy 309/500

So far there's a pair of shiney Sachs trophy dampers under there and Powerflex stabiliser haha, can't see a whole 197 fitting under there haha
