I built a mk 1 golf with a 2.0ltr ABF engine out of the mk3 gti.
That was running twin 45's and the mk2 distributor and ignition system and ecu and pulled near 200bhp.
Was an interesting build and fun and that did go through mot no problems but it did have it's fair share of problems, hence...
Have you thought about bike throttle bodies?
This is quite common in the Peugeot/Citroen groups and seems to obtain good results.
I personally thing you'll be taking a step backwards running carbs and any performance gained will be out weighed by the amount of setup, adjustment and reliability.
See what you mean about it not being overly impressive NorthloopCup, I like the wide squat look of it though (no doubt caused by the running gear as mentioned)
Have you caught the wiring on the head unit cage? I friend of mine did a similar thing and when I looked at it he'd trapped the wiring.
As for the steering wheel did you spin the angle sensor at all when the wheel was off as you could of damaged it if it's been over wound
For example let's say the labour rate is 45 pound an hour plus vat, times that by 6 and you have 270 then add you vat on top of that?
You get what you pay for really and you'll see that from the amount of horror stories on here about belt change f**k ups and timing being out causing detrimental...
Nothing to exciting today, changed the oil and filter before I went out for a family meal. No pictures I'm afraid but all looks as it should underneath
Well a little picture update, nothing to exciting.
So it's had a slightly hit and miss ruff change into third gear. Initial plan was to remove the box and rebuild it with NorthloopCup, this involving taking the car off the road for a week or so.
I came across a chap on the forum who had a 182...
Cheers mate, I do it all myself as I'm actually a mechanic by trade (Volvo trained) I just work in rail now as it's better paid.
Yeah I've got a lot more planned for it this year and some updates to add but been to busy working on other folks clios haha
I worked for speeds volvo for 5 years, did me apprenticeship with volvo so I've worked on a fair few of these. Cracking car share the same chassis as the focus but you no doubt know that.
Be following this one ;)
Mines decatted, purely because my cat had seen better days, I wasn't buying a poor quality remake or paying extortionate Renault price.
As for eml there's plenty of cheap emulators available or just put it to fresh air and there's plenty of mot stations ;)
Awesome, really have a shot spot for these purely down to the fact it was the first hot hatch that stood out to me as a child. Neighbours used to have a metallic blue one when I was about 6 years old and I thought it was awesome with its pepper pot wheels haha.
Really is something to be proud...
My mate was offered this very same car around two weeks ago from a chap in the midlands for 1600 quid!
Either way it's not a bad but for a track car, strip all the nice bits off like the seats, turinis and suspension and sell on then get some nice coilovers and buckets and kick it's head in...
Tbh that doesn't mean a lot it's just telling you it has a misfire, doesn't really narrow it down.
Have you tried pulling ht leads off the coil pack 1 at a time whilst running to see if that has an effect? The 1*2''s run a wasted spark system so the coil pack has 2 circuits in theory (example...
