i doubt a cup will be any worse than any older car i.e. older mk1/mk2 ph1 clio's with no abs. The only issue i supose would be wheelspin, but its only as powerful as you put your foot down just got to get the cluch engaged asap then accelerate lightly.
Didnt realise you had a ph1 172 chris, i'm considering one next year because they're cheap so can insure it tpft. With a view to upgrade to 182 next year.
Is it a good idea? how is the ph1 to live with everyday, compared to my 1.2 because its much newer etc.
He sounded like an idiot when i was considering a mk3 TCE i test drove one, gave it beans through 1st,2nd and 3rd then decided it wasnt much faster than my 1.2 16v. If i hadnt of done that i wouldnt of know if it was worth it or not so definately wouldnt of bought it anyway. On the other hand if...
From now on i will make sure i get the best all round tyre possible. I got budgets for my car and now they are less than predictable in the wet, although with miles on them they're not quite as bad. In the dry they are pretty good though not had any problems, and i can tell when i'm pushing them...
I have never put anything other than normal 95 ron in my car because it will make no difference atall on a 1.2 16v but 98/99 octain is suposed to be better in the Renaultsports so i presume 102 will be even better.
the more power the car has the quicker it will go up through the gears.
It is pretty much impossible to get a 182 that quick but you can make it a fair bit quicker but depends on your finances etc. Mods like a full exhaust system and decat will add 6-10bhp and cost circa £400. There are other...
In PH1 172 I'd have sunflower
In PH2 172 i'd get flame red i think
182 i'd have arctic - love that colour
197 - It would have to be glacier with the anthricate wheels
With mine i wanted a black one but now i much prefare the silver.
Ambition of mine to go to the ring the first summer i get my 1*2, so i'm hoping that will be maybe 2010, becuase i won't be able to afford to buy and insure the 1*2 and go the ring all next summer.
Dci 80 everytime, the only downside is the diesel noise, but 1.2/4's dont make a great sound anyway.
Dci 80's are cheap to insure although not quite as cheap as 1.2's but they get amazing fuel economy and probly the fastest out of the three in terms of overtaking ability etc.
What can I use to clean my seats and doorcards in my car as they're a little discouloured after 36K miles. I tried steam cleaning but it just left damp stains :dapprove: not sure if i did it properly though.
Any suggestions to bring the interior back to life?
They will be worth even less next year. What with tax and fuel prices. I'm hoping to pick up a ph1 172 for circa £2500 with fsh etc, want it to be as cheap as possible as i will insure it tpft for reasonably cheap, then keep it for a year and sell up for a 182.
thats in full. I am only looking to make the change in a year but i'm trying to check it is even feasible. I think if i can get £2400 online shopping around it may well be feasible to get insured on a 182 at 19 with 1 ncb
I have been looking at quotes for next year and 182's FC with bell £500 excess £2400. Yet a mini cooper s is only £1800 this is a big difference and considering the mini is worth more.
Fiesta ST was £1600.
I may now consider a cooper s for a year because they don't lose much value, then get...
Unlucky mate, i feel for you, know what its like, i lost the back end of mine on a tight left hander in january in the wet and hit a wall.Luckily didnt have to claim got it done for £570. Although the paint job on the bumper is sh*te got to have that resprayed soon will be circa £150
Will you...
if your only getting that mpg then you may aswell have the 197. i disagree with you not being able to use its full potential, get a 197 out of a b road then you can. Surely its got to be better than a 1.2 TCE, i test drove one and it was nothing special. All imo of course
Hate dci 80's my gf's mums has done 75 on the motorway. Great cars for economy definaely a better choice than 1.2/1.4 petrol in everyway. If i didnt want a 1*2 as my next car a dci it would probly be.
I saw the invoice for a hire scooter i had for 5 weeks when my scooter was wrote off back in 2006. 50cc Scooter rrp £1599 (2.5 years old at the time)
Total cost for 5 weeks hire £1502
and people wonder why insurance is so expensive
once tried to get as low as possible on a b-road blast, got down to 22mpg then it went to a 30 limit and it flew past 30mpg then.
Have had 28mph over 40 miles around town though.
unlucky bout the car mate, live and learn as i found out last january.
You won't find a pre march 2001 PH2 matey as they only came out in the september, all the x and y plate 172's are ph1's. I have seen the odd 51 plate ph1 to, one on here i believe.
I've only got 38MPG on the clock since monday. Its not through driving hard or incorrectly, its trough spending 15minutes of a 30 minute each way commute stationary in traffic.
If you live out in the sticks with no traffic etc and lots of a-b roads then obviously late 40's is achieveable. On...
Yeh that was unfortunate for you with chris's 182. Ahh well I had 42MPG on the trip computer when I got back so atleast it didnt cost much to get overtaken, enjoyed the drive all the same, obviously i'd of prefared it in a sport but rome wasn't built in a day.
