its easy to say that but by the time i'm 25 petrol will wither be gone or i'll be driving somthing with less power than my 1.2 16v that hugs trees, terrible times :/
yeh i thought that,i think i will go down the getting something circa 1.6 benifiting from cheap insurance for another two years and getting my 1*2 when i'm 20-21. The thing is tax and fuel wise a 1.6 isnt far off a 2.0 but performance is far from it.
What annoys me is i'd be much more careful...
This question has probly been asked several times but i couldnt find it in the search so hear goes.
Do you guys think that i would be able to find insurance on a 1*2 next year @ 19 with 1 ncb in a cat d postcode with 2 years driving experience for under say £1700
Is it better to phone up or...
although people do manage to get insured on them at 19, people say bell etc but they dont want to know, maybe if i have a good ring around it may be achieveable, but doubt it :( and i'm not paying mega money on it after all its only a clio worth £4000-6000
good point, but from the dummy quotes i've done presuming this time next year if i stay claim free i will be 19 with 1 years ncb and i cannot find reasonable insuance quotes of say £1600 max, which is annoying because 182's will be available of the whole with both cup packs and fsh for circa...
What mpg you getting out of it then mate? what power will the remap push out then? you planning any other mods such as induction etc, as you may have seen my other tread in other marques i'm starting to plan my next car and realisically unless i see something i cant resist it will be around this...
biohzrd's mk 3 looks awsome, this is the route i'm thinking of going, mk 3 dynamique s either TCE or 1.6 VVT on coils. Will have to see how the TCE maps though because at 11 seconds to 60 its not very quick altho i realy enjoyed my test drive in it, very good engine.
Who you insured with now mate? I have to go with directline becuase they are the only one's who will except my scooter ncb and are by far the cheapest. Its annoying me that i cant even put an induction kit on becuase i know i'm going with directline in august. Just gona have to see it as a cheap...
well i got 23mpg on the test drive in the TCE but i tested its performance properly and it only had 5miles on it, i hit the limiter by the time it had 6 :o well it seemed a lot nippyer than my mk 2 1.2 16v, the mk3 is just so fat tho :dapprove:
How do you guys finance your cars? Bank loan, renault finance, Contract hire etc, i looked into financing a dynamique TCE pre reg £9500 with £4000 deposit and they wanted £149 a month over 60 months and i still wouldnt own the car  , personal loan worked out £185 a month for 3 years then...
What engine did you go for mate?, as daydotz says the dci 86 is a little dull not great fun, the TCE was a good drive, altho the dci 86 was just as comfy etc but not faster than my 1.2 16v the figures say its 2mph and 0.3 seconds faster, altho more economical and torquey
How do you find them on a day to day basis, especially interested i people who have previously owned a mk 2, i'm on about non sport realy but 197 owners feel free to comment.
I test drove a dci 86 and TCE the other day and liked them, especially the TCE.
My question is can you see yourself...
the TCE felt quicker mate, the dci had good torque between 2 and 3k rpm but the TCE pulled well from 2K right through to the limiter, obviously a remaped 86 would be quicker, loved the MK3 overall tho
Test drove a dci 86 dynamique and the 1.2 TCE today, loved the feel of the cars, much better drive than my mk2 in terms of ride comfort etc. I wanted a drive of the dci 106 but they didnt have one. I found the 86 was a bit faster than my 1.2 16v thanks to the extra torque, the TCE was a great...
imo they're gutless, on a motorway they're terrible they dont accelerate strongly enough after 50 and they are geared very low, 3500rpm at 70 is irritating, i always look for 6th which isnt there.
Personally if your not going for the 1*2 i'd go for a dci 80, they have a nice amount of torque...
realistically it would be easyer to sell up and buy a valver, im presuming your young and if you declare all that the insurance will be more than a valver and the mods would cost more than the upgrade to a valver, oh and the results would be much less
Having a striped car as a second car is just like owning a superbike, you wouldnt want to drive/ride it everyday, but for fun and trackdays you cant beat it.
i'm only 18 though mate. I can use a years ncb off my scooter with them and 10% off because my mums with them, after that its circa £1400 on a 55 plate 1.2 16v full comp which is awsome compared to other quotes.
I want an induction kit simply for the induction roar which i realy like, the problem is i'm limited to panel filters because i'm going to be insured with direct line soon who don't insure mods for under 21's. I need go with them though because they are so cheap compared to others.
Will panel...
Re: How old was you when u got your Clio 172/182
I want a sport badly next year, but i dont think 19 with 1 ncb will be enough, thats if i make 1 ncb going to drive like a saint for a year though in a hope of getting a decent car next september
not having a pop but you joined a clio forum for a reason, and i would presume that the reason is that you where going to buy a clio, and the fact that you are still here would suggest you are still after a clio.
Yeh it may be group 8 but some insuance companies won't insure them atall because they have an awful reputation. Their reputations for being stolen, ragged, crashed etc along with the faxt they're always modded makes them more expensive to insure than most group 12ish cars.
197's have a reputation of poor mpg, the megane sports get better mpg, i'm not sure why they are so poor compared to 1*2's its the same engine isnt it? but obviiusly in a higher state of tune.
