Trust me, if you have three sets of wheels, and need to change those wheels 3 times on a track day because of the weather (it was Anglesey....), then you'll be much happier with studs.
In fairness to PMS @Martin. my stud kit was secondhand, so I have no idea how old it was. I also should have checked the studs as the car had been sat stationary for a while since goodwood and hadn't moved.
To prevent them snapping, I think checking them reasonably regularly etc may help. I'm...
Ha ha! In the confines of the rolling road it did sound strange! But a few have told me it sounds like Vader around track.
I was lucky and a second hand kit popped up just when I was looking to do it. @Dan@SJM did a superb job on the fit aswell.
Cheers  I feel sorry for you if you've had to wade through 40 pages of waffle.
Winter plans - need to sort the hub and stud / nut kit out. It sheared two of the studs clean from the hub last time it went out 😞
Other than that, full fluid service and I am sorely tempted to...
Depends on;
- what you bought the 10 year old s**t box for
- how long you intend to keep it for
- how much money you have I suppose
I doubt I'd modify mine at all if it was bought as a daily. I'd keep it exactly as it was. But that wasn't why I bought mine.
Whilst not a turbo, I have had zero issues with mine.
If built properly, and mapped properly, and you don't try to chase stupid figures, then I can't see them being unreliable.
If you shoestring the build / map, get it built by someone who doesn't pay due care and attention, and turn up the...
I gripper'd mine.
For two reasons
1) I don't do a huge amount of miles so it doesn't wear that quickly, coupled to a non-too agressive ramp angle means mine has been fine for 16 months so far. And it is better on track than a quaife.
2) I have both a @Budgie and a @NorthloopCup. Box and diff...
Does it have a bias valve?
If not, then I'd be surprised if it isn't running 50/50 braking, which is far from ideal for track.
I'd get the ABS sensors back in, and get ABS working and just run it on track with ABS to be honest. I stripped mine out, as it is better for track, but I have a...
When you say the front ABS has been cut, what do you mean? Is it running the cup brake setup? Or a bias valve etc? Is it road legal, I.e. Has an MOT?
Braking aside, if the ABS has gone, and you're not running an early gearbox with speedo sensor on the box, then I'd just get a satnav and read...
