Top man! Cheers bud.
It will never be going back to BMW again, i'll use the guys who work on the clio for big stuff. They race an M3 so are well accustomed to Beemers  I'll be doing the minor jobs myself though.
So, nearly 4k miles clocked to date, and i'm still loving it. I feel a little bit sorry for the clio, it hasn't moved, but I suppose it is keeping the miles off the charger. It will also allow me to go more extreme with the clio in terms of suspension. But thats for that thread, not this one...
Have you seen a bear's arse? Natural defences prevent any form of interference in that area. Anyway, I digress...
In answer to the OP - I'd do whatever I needed based on the intended use. Road car / commuter - nothing except good maintenance. Track car or toy, depends how long you intend on...
I get the impression the flamer's passenger seat will be like a cheap Dutch whore. By the end of the day, everyone will have been in it.
I don't mind, that's why it still has a passenger seat :)
Good to see the season underway and good fun being had again!
Didn't realise you'd bought James' old engine. I am heading upto Mark (Northloopcup's) to sort my RC kit this weekend. Much excite!
I have an email printed off from VOSA saying that if it's removed, and all of it is removed then it's ok. I swapped it for a cup setup.
The email is on here somewhere. I'll take a photo of it and stick it in here. :)
As in removed.
@NorthloopCup - lol! They said 40 per cent brake imbalance. I said f**k off, as I'd be in the ditch. Check it on the road. They did, and voila. Pulls up straight and passed :) x
Flameshed passed it's MOT today. :)
An advisory to tell me it has no ABS (thanks for that, I didn't know. Honest) and them struggling with the brake imbalance with the Brembos. Boom.
So, ready when you are @Diesel Davis :)
It is a process of elimination I'm afraid. Check the bearings first. Then check CV joints and driveshafts.
If neither of those, then it's likely to be gearbox related. Which will get expensive. So check for the cheaper things first, as above.
I think it sounds like a vast amount of effort, money and time to create a faster 1.4 tbh.
I'd wait, then use the money towards an RS Clio of some form.
But in answer to your question, yes it can be done. Anything can be done.
When the car is jacked up try to move the top and bottom of the wheel towards the brakes / engine and away again. There shouldn't be any movement there. If there is, then you've found your problem.
If that doesn't show what the problem is, but it in first (whilst on axle stands, with the engine...
