Ah yeah the guy who runs Launch (Rich) is a mate of mine, that S8 is epic, has the V10 in it, and sounds like a thunderstorm when its opened up!
He also has a 380bhp tommi Mak and a 400+ bhp Scooby and he is doing time attack atm
iv done 4 t/b's now all with the idle problem, all fixed once i did my guide mate, its the butterfly getting stuck that causes it, and cleaning them out then lubing the spring does nothing, you need to lube the spindle too, or put a stronger spring on as you have done which forces it shut
well it could be a number of things mate, so it would be cheaper to pay someone to come out and do it than spend out on new sensors/coil pack etc that might not even be the problem
To be honest you need to get the fault codes checked, eggy smell points towards the cat being very hot, which means unburnt fuel is getting through, so im guessing crank sensor
How do you know its not the cambelt?
Only reason is its very common for it to break as some dont get changed on time, and the aux belt is again not changed on time and can break and wrap itself around the cambelt
My Dad's exactly the same mate, every time he goes out in my Clio he says 'il drive carefull' then of course he goes back to his rally driver days and gives it death lol.
This is a reason why i run super, the saving is simply not there for me, its about £2 extra to fill up, and i get anything up to 4 mpg more running super.
We all pay for expensive oils, best tuning parts etc, why skimp on lower grade fuel when you could buy the better stuff?
This is all in...
Have you followed my guide mate? Cleaning out wont help if you dont re-oil the moving parts, have a look at my guide, if that doesnt solve it then id look at the ICV
Re: The story of a high mileage 172
Really small update:
Well there isnt a huge amount I can do at the moment as im waiting for some more bits to arrive, so i had a quick clean up of the engine bay and when I removed the slam panel i noticed a bit of surface rust:
So that had a sand...
Only know Dan really mate, met them a few times though :)
I loved the Beemers when the pickup was still an estate and still had the roofrack on it lol, in the two shades of brown, looked epic
