Some of you may have read me talking about this,
This is for Passat 1998-2005 all models
The problem that happens is the seal around the pollen filter perishes, the water then runs down past the pollen filter, and down the air ducts.
This then floods the passenger footwell.
The problem...
Yup thats the one :(
Was such a beast that, had so many good times, started off as a completely standard 16v bar lowering springs, made it into the little monster it ended up as, i really wish i hadnt sold it :(
L23DPF
Great grey Valver, had a hill power chip, stainless exhaust and about 170k on her, used to pound the s**t out of it on a daily basis and never put a foot wrong!
L765GYW
Hybrid Valver, was proper quick (just breathing mods - 1/4 in the 13's) but ended being rolled on Anglesea :(...
How is this possible when both engines give the same cc?
The cranks do look different but i cannot see how it can make the car any faster? Maybe a weight difference would give the same affect as lighening a flywheel maybe?
Def check it mate, and look on the invoice for this part number:
AKD 497 010 04R 10
(How sad am i for remembering part numbers lol)
Thats the new correct sealent to replace the seal that causes the leak
Make sure you check the lid on the pollen filter housing, the seal fails very regularly, water runs straight in, down the air ducts and sits the convenience control unit in a puddle of water, we do at least one repair per week = bye bye £500-£800 depending on how bad it is
Sold the 182 to a really nice couple, he has reg'd on here too, the ST was a part ex in at work, jumped on it as soon as it came in, 2 owners from new, full history, just had cambelt, full service, clutch and 4 new bridgestones on 1000 miles before i bought it!
My other halfs 52 plate Focus ST170 has just started making a really funny noise, the easiest way i can explain it, is its a slow rotation noise and from inside the car it sounds like a plunger sucking off something over and over :S
Iv traced the noise to this box that bolts to the bulkhead...
During that 14 sec run, i blew the welds on my intake, but it was ok because i had to strip the engine anyway to replace the piston rings i fried
