Thats the general opinion, iv had a few blips with ph2's and pulled on them, but then again id say a healthy ph2 could do the same to me, i honestly believe there is so much variance between these engines (having a 'good' or 'bad' one) that no model is faster than another
The ph1 is slightly ligher, the Ph2 has different gear ratio's to make up for the extra weight.
On the road there is naff all in it, in fact the ph1 is supposed to be a bit quicker, but again we are talking very little
Ah my bad, still, some people have got money and will spend it anywhere, we had a chap who had an Audi R8, and bought a Candy White Mk6 Golf GTi from us brand new, to quote 'cart the dogs around in'
Madness
lol i was the same, i use mine for track days as well as road driving and i found the standard mounts didnt last, but for average driving they are perfectly fine if fitted correctly :)
Yes mate, this is quite common, though if standard mounts are fitted correctly there will be no problems until they start to wear.
K-tec do some grn N style ones, i have them and can recommend them
You can change the plugs without removing the throttle body, i always leave most attached and simply move the inlet to the right, iv done it so many times now its a lot easier lol
Yes thats something i should have meationed, my car still has its full interior and i tried this on an airfield day and didnt have any problems, so im guessing maybe the extra weight helped?
The alloy bonnet is lighter, but i have a steel one and its bloody light anyway, nothing you would notice
also instead of removing the ABS off the ph1, simply unplug the fuse, a lot cheaper
I would see what you can get, there have been a few cups for sale for circa £2500, which is a great...
Ah cool, i think the main reason why they last is because they are being used constantly, i know mine doesnt like not being used, i left it for 3 weeks and an injector broke lol, its not been used in the past 2 months so best go start it really lol
its done 300 miles so far this year, and as...
They difinately know what they are doing mate! Though for the best map you need rollers, you simply cant get the same accuracy mapping on the road.
Hybrid would be nice, a front mount will make a nice difference, as will a bigger downpipe
Sweet mate, the 1.8 T maps vary so so much, one map may give 200, a map on 2 other identical cars may give 185/205, its amazing to see how they vary, the torque figures are just the same too, seems like you have a good one :)
Get a K04, bigger injectors and 270 bhp ;)
I would imagine it is more like 205-210 matey, get a front mount on it, then a custom map and with the other mods above you should hit 235 and about 250 ish lb ft torque :)
I know there is packing there,(as you now know a bloody silly idea) i think you were just a bit unlucky there matey, i honestly cant remember the last time i saw some genuine rust like that, def rare
the only way it could be a ph2 box is if it was a cup box, as they dont have abs so they have a speedo sensor in the box same as the ph1's. the ph2's take the speedo reading off the abs sensors
Hi and welcome mate!
A trophy combined with the insurance will be quite costly, i would suggest maybe a ph2 172, which you can pick a tidy one up for £3500, which will start you off well, the insurance would be slightly cheaper i would imagine too
