Using a 'friend in the trade' for general repairs on your car because hes cheap is all well and good, but from what i can tell, the cambelt on these is the one job that can seriously f**k you up if its not done/not done right.
Its not as if youll have to do it again anytime soon (as long as you...
just hope youve not got any in your engine (cylinders) stripping the intake, plugs etc will leave the water somewhere to go if you crank the motor. The last thing you want is to hydraulic the engine.....:dapprove:
No. That is all.
Sorry fella, but any money speny on 'tuning' your engine, apart from regular servicing, is money wasted. Theres next to nowt to be had from smaller capacity motors without serious ( thousands of pounds) investment.
Irrespective of what hardness they are, surely 20 minutes of your time isnt a big ask to avoid the (as small as it may be) risk of shagging your new camshafts.........
If theyre dirt cheap, buy them, then keep hold of them for a bit while you save up to get them refurbed in a decent colour. Then fit them and flog the TSW's.
An RT is a trim level on the mk1 clio. I think they normally have body coloured bumpers with foglights. If I were you, id go for RT front and rear bumpers, colour coded to your car, ditch the fogs for some air ducts and paint them the orange like the badges, then lower it. Some turbines would be...
ahmed, youre thinking of an easy-out. you drill a hole down the centre of the bolt/screw, then run a left hand threaded tapered screw (an easy out) into the drilled hole untill the sides bite in the hole. then turn it anti clockwise using a spanner to undo the bolt. Its alright if youve rounded...
Id have thought they would be ok, I dont think they would have changed the layout of the brake lines between the Mk2 ph1 (98-01) and the Mk2 ph2 (01-08ish), However, if you went to youre local renault dealer and asked for replacement brake flexi hoses for your car, then went and asked for...
Might be worth finding a decent hydraulics place round yours and asking them to make something up??? Should only need the type of end connectors and required pipe length to knock some up??? Not sure what pressure the brakes run at, but i work with aircraft hydraulics that run 3-4000 psi through...
Yes, theres a guide in this months PPC mag. involves plugging the existing holes, machining the wheel and re-drilling holes to an appropriate pcd for the application.
bearing in mind ps is a smaller unit of power than hp......... My car is marketed as having 170ps, therefore, if i went to a rolling road, id be expecting 165-170 hp, accounting for the possibility of mine being a friday afternoon job!
So how would you align them? sit them on, run the bolts down (but not tight) then move them by looking down the injector holes till they line up and tighten the bolts??
Maybe only certain renault dealers should be 'allowed' to sell the RS range, once theyve proven expertise/ been trained.... kinda like the fiat/ abarth thing..........
Axle stands are more trustworthy than leaving it up on a jack imo, all it takes is someone to knock/piss around with the jack while its got the cars weight on it, and down it goes.... Put it this way, ive had my clio on axle stands for up to a week in the past, and its not done any harm. just...
My standard 1.6 was too low for normal ramps. Just invest in a trolley jack and some axle stands, youll never have to buy them again.
And remember, you cant work on your suspension/ brakes on ramps.....
there are a fair few mk1 project threads in......... The Project section!!!!
If insurance is an issue, maybe get yourself a 'well used' valver or williams, and take it off the road, That gives you all he time in the world to get it done to a good standard.
Apparently you can still have a good...
Wokingham motors, the peugeot dealer with a renault service bit on the side???? Near tescos?? They struggled with my 1.6's cambelt change a couple of years ago, apparently something to to with tensioning it???
