springs are your only option for that money, as for brands it aint gonna make much difference to be honest. some are harsher than others, look around on here for opinions on each
only thing thats just concerned me is, you said the cambelt should be done at 72K, this hasnt had it done yet and its at 92K. should i be worried about this? what other mechanical things should i be looking for
ok well my plan is...provided he wants too...my mate owns a garage, im going to see if he will take my 1.2 as payment for cambelt/aux full service, new discs and pads if needed etc etc. just take my car as payment to get the car mint. otherwise i suppose ill just have to not use the 172 for a...
that is really nice actually, let me do an insurance quote and if it is reasonable then i will arrange to go and view it.
also has what i already want to do to it, the phase 2 rear
been to look at it, not gonna go with it. its got a small amount of damage/peeling paint/ rust to every panel ad theres something not right about the bumper
but anyway, just seen a ph2 172 for sale online...anyone know this car...
Just had to drive somewhere so had a quick look, it is 1200 quid, 12 month mot and tax and looked in pretty good condition except 2 things.... the front bumper seemed to not line up to well with the wings, and there was a tiny bit of paint peel/rusting on the rear arch
I have seen it local with an ad in its window so don't have a link sorry. It's in weymouth in dorset if that helps, and its silver, ill get the registration later on
Going to look at one later, what should I be looking for ? Common faults ? What miles should belts be done etc etcAny help would be good, cheers guysSorry would of searched but I'm on my phone at work and viewing it on the way home
two snow tyres on the front would be better than no snow tyres........
and i doubt you need to test fit if your on standard ride height mate, the wheel will be a total of about 20mm bigger
yeah gaz have a bit of a bed rep now days, i have APs on mine and i cant complain, bought them second hand aswell.
but if you want a comfier ride then definatly go for the dampers and springs
if you want drop and comfy get new dampers and lowering springs, some decent ones like eibach or something
if you want properly low, adjustable to get it perfect plus better handling then get coilovers. they will be stiffer and slightly harsher, you can get adjustable damping but there usually...
as above really, your jsut making it another standard car. the only way it would be worth it would be to put a completely different engine or something in it
fair enough mate, what colour is your car ?
and as above if your really set on doing it i would look for a damaged/written off car to use as a doner car to get the majority of your bits and pieces. would be the cheapest way of doing it rather than buying them all seperate
it will probably cost you more than a decent condition 182, not to mention how long it would take. you could buy a decent 182 and then mod it ? you would then have a nicer car than conversion
