IMHO I wouldn't bother with a filter unless you want a CPL (polarising filter). Even then the CPL will cost about the same as the lens itself and is only worth getting if you can use it on one of your other lenses.
It is not really necessary to get a filter for protection as the front element...
The 55-250 IS gets awesome reviews. It has IS which will help you greatly at 250mm too.
If you dont have an off camera flash (430EX) then it would be worth including that in your arsenal too. The difference it makes to the built in unit is huge.
As mentioned it really depends on what you want to take shots of. For a zoom, you can't go wrong with the 70-200 F4L or the 50-250 IS.
The primes offer a way to shoot in low light without needing a flash due to the large aperture. The 50 1.8 is good but has problems focusing in low light...
XP can do it automatically for you:
1) select the photos you want to email and click on the "Email selected items" option on the left hand side of the Explorer window:
2) Choose the option "make my pictures smaller and click on the "Show more options" on the bottom.

If you read between the lines on some of the threads on here it is fairly easy to guess.
You cant be too careful with what you post on the internet, a guy I work with almost got fired for posting a comment on youtube... his comment had a hint of inside info in it and via a couple of security...
NP. ..it is a long time since i was in the skateboarding world but used to know a load of guys from Document.
You should try your hand at a nearby ski center too. Most have freestyle evenings and you will have much bigger tricks and air time to capture.
awesome shots!!!! they would all be at home inside a mag!!
http://www.documentskateboard.com/ has plenty of images...
http://photo.mpora.com/ seems to host all action shots..
I would go for a slim fit compact. You know that you can always carry the DSLR around if you want good shots. The only time you will want a P&S is on a night out or when you dont want to be carrying anything. Pocket size second camera FTW.
AE lock...... it would have saved you there as it maintains the same exposure for each shot. The sky would have stayed the same colour throughout the range of photos.
As dick says, manual would have had the same effect.
How do you find the 5D? I deliberately did not try one out when I was looking for a new camera as I knew I would want one. It was slightly out of my budget. :D
Round that. Over the years you just end up collecting more and more! I picked up the 70-200 last year second hand and the 30 f1.4 also for nearly half price second hand. Both are as good as new. I keep an eye on adverts for bargains then it is hard to keep you wallet in your pocket!
If he had only damaged his own car, people would not have so much to say. The last two crashes I have seen vids of have involved him taking out other people in quite serious smashes.
I hope they hand him the bill for the repairs.
