I was bored yesterday so went for a drive around to see what I could find, which was not very much. Wildlife is pretty much ducks and swans around here, and it is not too easy to find either near anything idustrial.
The closest I came was the below... a bird sat on the train power line...
I am trying to recover the data from a hard disk for my wifes work but am having some trouble...
I have a handy IDE-USB cable with a power supply which can normally be used to open most hard disks but this one does not even register on the PC. I can hear it spinning up and the PC registers that...
There are a load of old WWII bunkers around here but they are pretty tough to get to and apparently surrounded by quicksand and who knows what else. I dont really fancy uncovering a mine on my wombles across the dunes...
I borrowed somebodies 350D today and took a load of photos with the 40D and the 24-105 & 18-55 then the 350D with 24-105 and 18-55. It showed that I was just looking too closely at the photographs and that the lens is fine.
The 70-200 F4 L came out best of all though. It stands out from the...
Nope, I learnt with a film SLR many moons ago, I had the 350D for a year and a half too so I am fairly confident that it is not down to user error... although you never know! I also took a load of shots at f8 and f16 last night with the flash to test it but did not get a chance to go through...
I'll take some pics this weekend. So far, the pictures just don't seem very sharp when you look at the 200% crop but maybe I am just expecting too much.
I have tried IS on, IS off, manual focus, autofocus, low ISO, fast shutter and it doesn't seem to matter. I was just curious to know how...
Please can you do me a favour and post a couple of shots up with 100% and 200% crops at varying ISO's? They can be of anything.
I think I might be pixel peeping too much but I just want to know that my camera is not under performing.
Thanks!
and there are reports of some of the sigmas having problems. If I bought one, I would want the dealer close by for any exchanges.... just for peace of mind.
127 shots with the flash not skipping a beat before I hit the cameras buffer. The flash not firing on full power which may have helped it along.
Video is here
Yep.... superbly. I'll even do a video clip for you to see how long it keeps up for.
I managed around 10 raw files yesterday at 6.5 fps without the flash missing a beat. Proper paparazzi style. lol
I'd say the Canon but everybody has their own priorities and mine might not match your shooting:
High-ISO image quality (better than the D40 according to various reviews)
9 AF points (vs 3 on the D40)
10 Megapixles (vs 6?)
Automatic Sensor Cleaning
Lens selection - You are limited on the...
I'll have a look tomorrow. Just picked mine up today so should be able to do something.
You can also download everything on the canon site for free... might be quicker?

I don't think that there is enough of a difference between the wide ends at 17 and 24 to justify it surely? The new version is 16-35 too I think.
I definitely would not bother with the F4 but the F2.8 might be more useful. I dont know how second hand prices are in the UK but over here, second...
Cheers guys. I am going to have a rummage around t'internet and see if I can find some ideas. I have come up with three different proposals so far and they have all been too corporate.

Went for a drive today and picked up these.....
I had to force myself to leave before I picked up two other lenses too! I had enough explaining to do when I got home to the Mrs..... "I had to buy them, I saved 210 Euros by buying them!!".... I'm not sure she bought it but I am loving my new...
I have been asked to do a website for a jewellery company. I am doing it as a favour for the owner of the company as they cannot afford a professional to do it.
I am technically good enough to make a site with some flash banners etc but am completely lacking inspiration on how to make the...
