I've just taken my cat off and there was no gasket, which seemed fine.
Going to buy a new fixing kit and the picture on the ktec web site has a wirewool type gasket to go between the cat and the manifold. Should there be a gasket or not?
Mine's done 132k (108k by me :-), runs fine. Original clutch. Still 190psi in each cylinder and just made 174bhp ATF with a ktec stealth.
It's more how the miles were done, all motorway/ dual carriage way is fine. Around town lots of gear changes etc is a different matter. When you get in does...
Where can I buy one, can't find it on the web.
I don't mean the one for locking the cams in position I mean the one for holding the pinions while you tighten the bolts.
On the cup they do even less than on a normal 172. The Ktec ones will look prettier if you like that sort of thing but other than that you won't notice any difference.
Have you put an ODBC fault reader onto the car? Often they detect the fault before you can feel it. I think it is the upstream one that does most of the work.
ODBC reader said upstream lambda - AA man told me.
This was more than the normal flat spots when cold. I struggled to keep it above 30mph, then it suddenly cleared and just missed every now and then once warm.
Not really understanding your question.
I just supported mine, put it on to the standard mounts and then tightened up the stealth mounts to hold the exhaust in place.
Have a look underneath, passenger side, you'' be able to see it just behind the engine under tray. The later ones are twisted - my October 2002 52 plate has twisted.
My near side rear tyre always wears out of shape (gets flat spots) after a few thousand miles. It makes a noise like a failed wheel bearing. So worth checking your tyres too.
There are some mounts inside, but I was meaning outside.
Since it is loose inside there are some mounts inside that the reflector can come off. you might want to try pulling it back on. Maybe if you can get your finger in the hole where the full beam bulb goes?
