If you want a decent sound your gona have to wreck the door cards anyway as good amped speakers will sound crap without and mdf baffle. However installed and setup correctly ie, sound deadening, mdf baffle, sealed doors you can get a set of 13cms sounding quality without needing to drill the metal
I believe the sound you are hearing is the induction roar. I had a 1.2 clio with a knn 57i on it and you could hear the roar even if you floored it in a high gear where the engine isnt revving much , however at normal cruising speeds you couldnt hear it unless you revved the nackers off it.

There was no perform increase with them, they got more power from just using a sports filter in the standard air box.

when changing the plugs on a 182 is it important to set the gap on the ngk plugs? If so how?
Also people keep mentioning torqing them up, but whats the correct torq for them on a 182?
unless you want to make custom door pods then the only other way is to cut all the plastic away behind the stock grill, and may need to shave a bit off the actual metal door bit, and then tap some new holes to mount the speaker to.
