there are lots of things it could be; don't mean to sound condescending but, if you don't know your way around suspensions, it might be best to take it to someone for some help:)
my spare Turini has a 205 fitted and, whilst it fits in the well fine, it's a little too tall, so the boot board is raised a little - not a problem to me (and i use the boot daily).
i think i paid £40 for the wheel and picked up a scrap (but undamaged and legal) tyre from a tyre depot - fiver...
i've only been the once and we only did 8 laps but bikers fell off shortly before us on three seperate laps! i almost involuntarily helped one idiot off his as he cut me up on entry after i'd slowed right down and given him plenty of opportunity to turn in - missed him by inches:S .
great...
hope i'm not jumping in on alexm's question but i've a similar sounding noise, have replaced the top mounts (which has got rid of the 'groaning' noise) but still have knocking.
it's definitely coming from underneath the car (rack/arb/bottom arms/+) but will need to go up on ramps so that i've...
^ that's the bottom line for me, too.
i've not weighed my spare but should imagine it weighs the best part of 20kg, which is alot when you consider the weight advantage a Cup has over the non-Cup cars - but you can't really notice the difference and, as said, unless you're into time trials on...
i'd keep it myself; it's a 15" steel too, so will be light. i wanted a 15" steel but have ended up with another Turini as a spare
only problem with having to change it at the roadside is that i'll bet undoing the wheel nuts with the brace in the tool kit is hard work
the Gunsons kit is fine if you ensure that the cap is actually sealed before filling the bottle with fluid; might be worth another go if you've already got one
cheers for that. i thought i'd try and eradicate the noises first just in case it's a problem with the rack (don't want to spend money repairing the rack leak if it actually needs replacing - although i'm hopeful it's just the top mounts).
then it's the leaks and then the stalling (if it's...
There are four mounts in all; Euro Car Parts keep a couple of them (including the top mount) and are cheaper than KTEC, so you can save a little there.
another one! sorry to hear it - lost mine at about 40k (it had had oil leaks in the past - not during my ownership). sounds as though Renault are interested in helping though which is good news
the gearbox is at odds with the nature of the rest of the car - keep saying it, but it's a shame imo...
thought i'd bump this rather than ask in a new thread; aside from the cons of increased harshness and noise, can i ask if anyone has noticed if they accelerate wear in other components (dampers, etc)?
considering some but also not particularly keen on making the front end any livelier than it...
cheers Paul & Edde
i think i'm going to start by replacing the top mounts to see if that sorts the noises and then look at the leaks (they're not bad) and the stalling
Edde - thanks for that suggestion; i'll stick it up on stands and run the rack through its travel to see if it'll make the...
thanks; i'm led to believe that there's some sort of electrical gizmo in the system that (presumably) regulates the revs at full lock to compensate for the load imposed by the PAS - hoping it's just this sensor i need for that particular problem
do you think it's coming from the engine bay or underneath the car?
i've similar sounding symptoms with mine and have been told that it's the dephaser; it's apparently uncommon but not unheard of.
it's difficult to guess over the internet - there are quite a few things it could be and your best...
if your whilsting is in each gear and at the top of the revs, it's not going to be the old wing mirror thing - that seems only to be noticeable at speed and isn't gear/rev related.
have you a local indie specialist you could take it to for a diagnosis?
Right, I've a few issues with my car and am now at the stage at which I'd like to start trying to sort them all out.
The steering has the longest list and I was hoping to be able to take a little advice from those who might have had similar issues.
Here's the list (!):
- PAS leaks from...
thinking about this the other day; i've done about 16k in almost exactly a year - which is over half of what it had done in the previous 5 years.
some seem to but it's not worth worrying about the whole mileage/value thing with some of the models - mine'll likely be worth 3k in 2-3 years time...
possibilities might include stretched cable, faulty operating arms (do they move freely through their travel?), problems with the self adjusting mechanism, +
