i had some in a mini about 10 years ago - i don't know if they have changed the design since but they were an uncomfortable mistake. they were a 'true' bucket design in that the front of the seat's squab was raised high. the seating position in a mini isn't the best but i found them v...
i replaced the rears about two weeks ago on my 46k '52 - they needed doing anyway but were primarily replaced as the friction lining had lifted from the backing plate due to corrosion - presumably the original pads
they're only £12 from the likes of ECP/GSF
it has average mileage for its age (10k pa) and you're only proposing putting average mileage on it whilst you run it, so don't see a problem providing it's a problem free (?!) car and you don't pay over the odds for it. whatever you run will depreciate.
the nuts themselves should be tight but the rubber rimmed cups that they're held by can sometimes spin freely. i don't think this is a problem myself (having taken them off to have a look at their construction) but would be interested in hearing to the contrary if i'm wrong
not sure it needs disconnecting for 24hr but the ECU will apparently adjust itself to suit the timing/fuelling requirements of the 'new' driving style once the battery is reconnected.
edit. could be cobblers - haven't tried it.
i thought you weren't allowed any protrusions either - so if there are brackets that stick out, that might also be an issue - ? technically, anyway. depends if you're unlucky enough to be spotted and pulled and then unlucky in finding an officious Officer
when i broke my gearbox at X-Mas, i checked one of these salvage network websites and was told they had access to 42 Cups!
that's about 2% of the production numbers!
does anyone know how many are 'left'?
i think K-Tec offer a dog bone mount with uprated bushes and a company called Vibratec offer complete sets (although Vibratec mounts are very expensive as they go). i'd also be interested as soon as someone comes up with a sensibly priced set (unless someone already has - ?). surprised no one...
they look fine to me. as you know, the pads don't sweep all of the disc and you end up with a corroded lip as the rust builds outwards and the swept area is slowly worn inwards. so long as the swept area is still well above minimum thickness (not sure what that thickness is), they're fine. look...
most likely side mounted in a Clio i'd have thought - although i guess it depends upon the application. if you used a subframe (expensive and not the best idea), they'd be base mounted.
basic advice when buying seats is to try them before you buy.
i know the Forzas are attractive at that...
apart from the fact that a Cup has more on paper torque, the Honda's doesn't peak until something daft like 7.3k (:dead: ) whereas i think it's around 5.5k in the Renault
you'll not be able to thread the standard belt through the slots in the sides of the seat though, and depending upon the depth of the seat (with the standard belt pulled over the top), you might not be particularly secure 'in the event'.
surprised at these premiums - some seem quite reasonable. i waited until i was 25 until i bought my 205GTi and bought the Cup at 35 (the GTi was good!); the Cup wasn't actually much more to insure despite its higher group.
the tray is crimped around the back (facing the engine) and sides and there's a clamp on the other side (facing the wing) - sounds as though you're missing the clamp
Jarratts off C/S High Street. i've used them for a while and am not too concerned but thought i'd mention it.
besides, the rear dampers are weeping ever so slightly and i've a couple of PAS leaks that i'm hoping won't excite them too much..

top man - thanks
don't know if this is still an issue but i've my first MoT booked and was going to print this off and mention it to the tester i use - but i can't find it on here anymore.
i've not renewed my recently expired subscription - is it in one of the Private areas? can anyone link me up pls?
thanks
there is masses on gearboxes if you search. they're the weakest part of the car IMO - in terms of both mechanical sturdiness and in terms of enjoyment of use
