thanks, too
i was trying to get my head around the numbers quoted and was surprised at the inferrence that the change in cam profile gives an instant 30% power increase. isn't 197bhp peak power, though? i'm still confusing myself:S
i didn't quite understand that bit about the VTEC power-hike - does the engine really leap from producing 140bhp to 197bhp at the instant VTEC kicks in (yo); or is it the difference in peak power afforded by the VTEC system? (even then, 140bhp is v poor from a modern 2 litre non-VVT 16v engine)...
Z4 crash looked unpleasant. were they all from this last action day? never ceases to amaze how many people bin it really - and that's just the one corner!
best i've seen at Quarry involved a couple of cars - a 924 came over the rise, the driver outbraked himself, and the side of the car went...
i'm insured with Tesco and have declared having fitted a CAT back exhaust - no premium increase, although was quoted £70pa to de-cat (as it increases engine power). guess it depends on what you've done to the car
sounds as though it's just condensation if it's leaking from the exhaust (normal). could try tasting it to be sure it isn't coolant running down the exhaust from one of the heater pipes or something (it'll taste sweet if it's coolant)
styling gimmick. any aerodynamic advantage is going to be minimal on a shopping trolley IMO (that's not a 1.2 comment - thinking of small cars, generally)
you'd generally feel it if you had one; most annoying kind are when you're not sure if it's missing or not - when the engine's 'tugging' ever-so slightly, particularly at part throttle cruise at relatively low revs
it *might* just be worn engine mounts, which is a common problem and doesn't really go away once you've actually renewed them - there's just a fair amount of slack in the mounts, meaning that the gear-shift isn't the nicest
also, ask him to confirm that the box isn't leaking oil from anywhere
they're roll pins - should be able to find them in hardware stores, fixtures and fastners stockists, etc
for the sake of doing it properly (obv. make sure you get one the right size), i'd not bother drilling to fit a nut/bolt
it'll be due to the silencers - all of these performance exhausts are straight-through these days but the size of the silencer boxes varies, as does the quality and quantity of the sound-absorbing material they're packed with
you're going to have to ditch the exhaust for a quieter one unless...
i've not done anything daft in it, but the back-end of mine doesn't seem to want to play at all; it'll move under braking whilst turning in, but it's just not interested in lift off oversteer as my 205 was. that said, i do have Contis on the back and 539s on the front which i guess'll have a lot...
same as any other front driver, really - poor traction, 'enhanced' understeer, and (what with no ABS), poor braking.
it's the braking you've got to think about - emergency application in a corner would be exciting
the back-end of mine seems really stable and got to say that i think it's...
i'd probably have splashed a gallon in, just to see..
my last car was set up to run on boosted-super (i used miller's) as it would pink otherwise; deinitely notice a difference in that particular car
still got some miller's left which i'll slap in the Cup at some point to see if there's any...
swan-necked spanners are 's' shaped; you want an offset (sometimes called 'cranked') spanner: http://www.justoffbase.co.uk/21mm-X-23mm-Expert-Hi-Torq-Deep-Offset-Ring-Spanner-55695-Draper-7105MM
should be able to find one off the shelf if you shop around - Halfords (?), bigger motor factors...
must have a problem somewhere. if it's not leaking internally (might be an idea to have a 'sniffer' test carried out), it must be leaking from an external joint/hose/etc
can be a pain to locate as you could have a tiny pin-prick leak in a hose but best start by having a really good look...
after i rudely inferred, a little while ago, that people might have been squeezing their thumb grips too hard, i noticed a small split in the right hand thumb grip of mine this morning:star:
that generic response from Renault that someone posted isn't surprising, but is a little galling...
of the two Cup colours, i much prefer the blue. i'd have had a black one though (favourite colour on a car) and do remember looking at a Liquid Yellow 182 at the dealers when they first arrived; i've seen one or two about here locally and it's a really nice colour but, like others, not sure it's...
possible lazy caliper? easy to free-off if you're changing the pads anyway
ed. typed whilst you were doing yours, above. there's a VOSA bulletin about low effort from the rears; if that doesn't convince them, could check the caliper pistons. hell, if you're going to change the pads, you may as...
front two drivers far too aggressive
vids like this 'prove' nothing about a car's relative ability - they're hardly streets apart; the Clio driver just managed to muscle his way past - that's as much as anyone can say
some nice photos there. did you take any of the lobby of the Chrysler Building? that's the only place i missed off my list when i went (got there too late in the day) and someone had especially asked me for photos:rolleyes:
8671002949 is a type 063 Motrio battery - retail at about £60 when i bought one earlier in the year (not that i paid that much for it)
any 063 will fit; the more expensive batteries tend to come with longer guarantee periods
