Its sort of true it does put extra load on but theres few decinet strut braces out there and even a well fitted strong racer one used on track won't bend the roof.
As for wearing tyres its down to how you drive.
I woulnd't ver bother with one until you've got a fair bit spent getting the...
Err maybe its me or you getting mixed up but the slider bolts should be greased the bolts holding the caliepr to thye slider should be lock threaded up with locking compound.

Yep its not worth it unless you do mega miles.
But so long as you don't make it silly should be fine 3k at 8MPH should be fine instead of 4k. Chnage up would be a pain you'd have to get to 5k or so before change up in 4th.
You just want to change 5th idealy not increase all the gears.
Chnaging 5th along quite easy would have to look but I think the diesel 5th longer not sure for certainn so its a cheap swop.
Do you think your slight shaving a few mm of the chassie leg and adding in some strenght had anyhting to do with th unusual handing? or affected it in any way.
Peperami has a 172 I think so his are 54mm.
Just measure the center of the top to the center of the bottom bolt you'll be able to tell if its 52 or 58mm 6mm is a lot.
