i haven't read the whole story here
but when i tried to fit my 172 alt to my non-pas setup the housing got caught on the bracket
the 16v one has a very slight difference in the shape of the housing and so clears the bracket no probs
to get an adapter that goes from a metric male M22 x1.5 thread to a female metric M12 x 1.5 thread?
no matter where i look i can't find such a thing! :dapprove:
all i can think to do is buy a M22 blanking plug and get a local engineering place to drill and tap it to suit the M12
anyone got...
andy
in the original pics the engine was tilted quite far back, was that just to get more clearance for the bodies?
are you doing the same on the new one?
how did you adjust it, with a solid adjustable dogbone?
i need 2 90 degree fittings putting on aswell to attach it to the sandwich plate, but that shouldn't be too much hassle should it?
as long as i get the correct fittings?
are these right for the sandwich plate i have...
Fred, this is the kit i have:
if you can supply the hoses will the fittings be swaged on like in the pic? or will they be aeroquip style fittings?
if swaged i need to get the hose measurements bang on first time, whereas aeroquip can be self assembled so more room for adjustment...
right, with my current hose setup i cannot fit my oil cooler (pipework not correct length and cannot bend into desired positions coming off sandwich plate)
so who has experience of buying/fitting aeroquip hose and fittings?
good places to purchase from?
should i try and purchase the parts...
ah you got it ok then :)
did you like my ghetto packaging, morrisons bags ftw roffle
i would use the elbow i sent with it, if you look at greeny's pic, it will sit behind the headlight nicely, then you can remove the headlight for maximum air flow when on track (or if you are feeling flush...
lol no not his engine, just his ITB's and omex
and i've put my standard injectors on the jenvey fuel rail, should be fine with my limited spec
on a side note, when i took his injectors out one of the coloured rings was a different colour to the other 3 :S (maybe why it was running poo?)...
yes pinned front and back
it is one of the worst fitting bonnets i have come across lol
thought about fitting flush catches so i can attempt to line it up properly
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
lol
GSF must love me, last time i ordered some i hit the pay button twice by accident, a nice lady rang me 5 mins later to ask if i meant to buy for 4 x 5 litre tubs as all the other orders i had made in the past were for 2 x 5 litres. you know it's bad...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
i think it's all in the picture ;)
everything i take a picture of looks sh*t tbh
jord, how much do you estimate you have spent on type D coolant? i reckon i'm up around the £150 mark now :clown: everytime i do it with a view to keeping it clean, but it...
pics as promised
me working on it in my work get up lol
the rigged up fiat fan before it had that bracket chopped off
the rad is at an angle here but it sits level when in properly
i didn't get a pic with the pipercross filter in place, but you can tell its a tight fit...
yeh it should ;) but i have read about a fair few people having the same problem so thought it would be good to eradicate it
yeh ben's loom, no renault ecu anymore :approve:
just uploading pics to photobucket now
no i already have the revised renault blue one (same as what came with the omex loom)
something about it giving a stronger signal? comes with a bracket so doesn't need moving around to get the best signal? something like that anyway lol
post #38...
right just ordered the revised crank position sensor from omex
cost me £64 +VAT but it should eliminate that as the cause for non start (which alot of people seem to suffer with when using the old style/standard CPS)
good man!
sounds like a cool project
Hollister on here put a mk1 engine into a mk2 http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?t=264615&highlight=rally
oh it is!
my bro is the rig up part of the team, he has a nack of being able to sort out problems like this
i was busy messing with the wiring, when i turned around he had chopped the fiat cowling down to fit the clio rad perfectly and fixed it in place with a couple of cable ties...
yeh 17 inch wide by 15 inch high but only about an inch thick
its the height that is the killer with the pipercross filter in place, without that the task would be alot simpler, i did consider getting sock filters, but then decided against them and just made some brackets up to lower it
right my bro has the pics of this weekends antics (waiting for him to email me them)
basically we have been working out ways of getting everything to fit in a very small space, now made even smaller by the ITB's (or should i say the pipercross filter, as this is the main problem!)
i ordered...
oh don't get me wrong i'm not denying it proves gains, it clearly does from the before and after
it's the whole 'renault's don't make book figures' arguement
there must be thousands of clio owners out there that think their 172 makes 172bhp, so you can imagine they get a supersprint exhaust...
i'm sorry Kev but after everything that gets posted on this forum i thought it would be pretty obvious to take any RR figures with a pinch of salt
you seem like a pretty clued up guy, supersprint have a good reputation, and make good quality products, but even they have to succomb to the sales...
70mm
can be had on ebay or from samco direct etc
idle control valve? you mean the oil breather that goes into the inlet pipe?
you can get a self sealing take off from merlin motorsport that will do the job, go to samco on their webiste and you will find it
