i think technically they shouldn't pass an mot but often they do
something to do with the buckle? aircraft style. something along the lines that if you were in an accident and someone needed to free you from the car quickly it has to be obvious to them how to undo the seatbelt (ie like the big...

sound job cheers bud :D
i think number 3 is all dependant on the power produced etc so i'm not really expecting an answer to that :o
number 2 i need an answer to though as i can set up my tacho accurately
Re: My mk1 track car blog
£69 :D :approve:
hows your racer coming along lee? if you want to get me on msn or something i have found various tacho setups that you might be interested in :D
right some very simple questions here:
1. what is the 172 rev limit
2. when does the vvt (or whatever it's called) kick in? is it exactly 5k?
3. does anyone know the optimum rev range to change gear? or is that going to be a rolling road job to find where the power peaks?
that is all :)
Re: My mk1 track car blog
had an eagerly awaited delivery today
basically i was looking at rigging up a datatool rev light as some have done on here, however when i looked into setting it up it meant holding the car at certain revs so the led's can 'learn' when to come on.
this was a...

the rust was a downer when i saw it, and the fix we have done isnt the prettiest lmao, but as long as its functional
in the first paragraph i explained what is needed to 'fix' the problem, the second was what i did when it still wouldn't go away, i didnt mean it to sound like a suppressor would fix it, my apologies :o
ignore me entirely then, i am just passing on information that i was told/found when...
i had this in my 106, best way to fix it (if possible) is to re-route all the cables away from each other (power cable and speaker cable) and then re-earth everything
however i tried all this and couldnt get it to go away, so in the end i bought a suppressor that goes inline on the aux and can...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
while i was sorting this out the gf was again busy using the heat gun to remove the tar on the boot floor, then removing the rest with thinners, then masking out the rear windows etc, then applying primer and basecoat :)
it was pretty dark by this time but i tried to...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
next job was to relocate the battery in the boot, i have spent about 2 weeks buying all the parts and planning what i needed to do it without any
problems. the planning paid off, sadly i didnt take any pics of the battery box in the boot as we removed it pretty much...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
then i got to work on the sunroof, drilled out the previous rivets, cut the metal to shape then refit it and re-riveted it, then applied primer, which is all i could to as it then started to rain on and off for the next 3 hours
whilst i was doing this my...

got sandblasted wheels back on thursday dinner...
i know the ITB boys do this when removing the inlet, can you do this whilst leaving the inlet in place, or is there only one way the leads can run under the inlet?
i now this probably isnt a common question, its either that or i block the bonnet vent (its letting water get to the coil pack)...
Re: My mk1 track car blog

i always use blackcircles and have never had a problem with them. if you clicked 'fully fitted' rather than 'mail order' thats why they wont deliver them to you direct.

bloody hell i would of b**ch slapped your mate up the side of the head! i used to work with a lad who had the same done to him while he was trying to get a car running, chopped the ends of 3 fingers off in the alternator belt assembly!!! :nono:
how the hell haven't you lost motivation yet?
i've lost motivation because i went to check on the car last weekend after it rained ALOT! to find a 2 inch puddle behind each bucket seat, and the drivers seat to be soaked through with smelly rain water. serves me right for not sealing the...
easy way to check the brake cylinder (when drum removed) is to peel back the rubber sealer on both ends (i am assuming they are the same setup as peugeot drums?)
if brake fluid escapes when you peel the seal back you need a new cylinder, or even if its visibly leaking without peeling it back...
