Re: My mk1 track car blog
well ive been out there from 9am til 5 mins ago, and ive only come back inside because if i stay out there any longer there is a huge chance the hammer will be going through the windcreen
i started the day by refitting my load sensitive bias valve, only to...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
ive pretty much decided on the sparco cage, all depends on what it looks like if i can get a pic of it
is the exhaust really that loud? ive got 2 centre sections, the ktec one which doesnt really have a middle box, just some wider tubing in the middle :S . and then...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
what you reckon then?
i really like the sparco one, says 8 point on the pdf, found one on peter lloyd rallying but it says 6 point and there is no pic of it
Re: My mk1 track car blog
looking at bolt in, either one of these these by omp
or this by sparco if i can find a supplier (sorry about quality its a screen dump)
Re: My mk1 track car blog
gave the magnex backbox a box of a clean up last night, came up like new (man i really need to use my digi camera rather than my phone!)
my powerflex anti roll bar bushes arrived today from ktec aswell :D
ordered some rear pads but they havent turned up, bit...
thats exactly what i've done (and beaniemoo) on the mk1, used a different alt bracket setup though from another model rather than the cup brackets and used mk1 alternator :D
glad to see the door handles arrived, not the quickest company are they! lol
heat shield looks spot on, i might have to invest in some if the valver bulkhead gets a bit warm! which i think it will judging how close the manifold is to it
Re: My mk1 track car blog
cheers guys
beanie - i think the cup decat is 2 1/4 or 2" i'm not sure now, and im pretty sure the magnex is 2" or thereabouts, will measure it tonight and see
i think its Dan thats having a 2 1/2 fitted
ps has your exhaust got a centre silencer? or is it...
Re: My mk1 track car blog
well its turning over, just need to wire in fuel pump and ignition live etc to ecu and see if it lives :approve:
i had some magnatec 10w40 left over from the 106 so stuck that in for now, but have ordered 6 litres of millers cfs 5w40 to be put in when it is on the...
my advice is go to a renault dealer and get something in writing from them stating that due to the colour it would be of a higher resale value
i deal with this sort of stuff every day and to be fair if they are using glass's guide it doesnt take into account anything like rare colours as you'd...
if engines not an issue there are some bargains out there
i bought mine with an unknown engine problem (turned out to be snapped cambelt) for £380 i think it was. valver replica so it has speedlines on it and a ktec stainless cat back, laughing all the way home i was :D
oh i forgot to say, those fasteners you used to secure your carbon door cards, did you say they were a nightmare to find?
i was in my local engineering place where i get all my nuts/bolts/fastenings etc and spotted a bag of them on a shelf :clown:
i found this out when doing the f4r conversion
later fuel rail with no return, using standard valver fuel pump so no fpr in tank, ended up putting the FSE in line utilising the standard valver fuel return etc
i could of just put a correctly rated fpr in there, but with the...
this clio adapter for the FSE you're talking about, its not the dummy fuel pressure regulator that sits in the rail is it?
if it is, then i have one spare, and if its not, please tell me what it is lol :D
lol i've got bits of pipe sticking out all over the place at the mo
so the bottom rad hose that comes off the pump should have 2 pipes running into it, one from the heater matrix and one from the expansion tank
thats what the 172 diagram is telling me :)
ah yeh forgot about that, just looking at it now
it shows a second pipe that joins the bottom rad hose from the expansion tank, im sure the pipework i got with it only has one T piece in it :S
anyone got a pic of the bottom rad hose, the rest i can work out :D
can someone post a pic showing where the coolant pipes run on a 172, ie which one runs to which inlet/outlet of the expansion tank
also from the water pump there is a pipe, that then has a T piece in it with another smaller pipe coming off it, where does this go? :clown:
pics would be...
i'm an automotive insurance assessor :)
i do this thing day in day out, if you need any help with anything gimme a shout :D
out of interest is the claim fault or non-fault? and which insurance company is it?
Re: My mk1 track car blog
right more progress :D
went to rstuning today and paul decoded my ecu while i waited, thanks again mate, fingers crossed it will all work fine :clown:
then i got home and went to see the next door neighbour as he has got a welder and offered to sort my brackets...
i was gonna say, the only reason i put my heater back in was for the demisting, not bothered about being cold (the manifold runs right next to the bulkhead with no heat proofing so my feet will be nice and warm, if not on fire!)
my heater has no ducting either, took it all off as i have half...
