OK the knock, I think(?) I've found it.
It sounds just like this.
It feels like it's something hitting the car.
It knocks when gentle braking to come to a stop and never on hard braking.
I'm asking could this be it? As I have no other ideas and my theory, or process of eliminating things...
A tale of highs and lows.
The high. It past it's MOT.
Then the lows, of which there are a couple.
Starting with the small issue:
Literally on the way home from the MOT the washer jets stopped working, no noise from the pump, nadda. Got home and checked the fuses. All good.
Wiggled the...
An update.
The correct radiator arrived, with a day to spare as I have the Cup booked in for an MOT.
Correct rad with mounting points for the fan.
Went in like a glove
Bleed the coolant until the fan kicked in.
Took it for a little spin (Private road as I have no MOT, officer) and it's...
Still magnificent choice of colour contrast between the olive and silver.
On the fence about the wings, I think it could be pulled off quite well.
C'mon man, where's the splitter?!
I'm going to say standard. Only reason there's a specific rad is because of the mounting brackets for the AC condenser. The inlet and outlet of the radiators are in the same location. So the same.
I think.
The new (and hopefully correct) one I've bought is from Ebay. Seller has it listed as a 172 Cup and specifically says it's for non ac models and a 172 Cup only. So they seem to know what they have listed.
I asked them to send pictures of the mounting for the fan and the top mounting brackets...
Made an amazing mistake yesterday.
In an effort to bring this up to scratch I thought I'd replace some of the cooling system, namely the radiator, thermostat and thermostat gasket.
All was going really well.
The coolant that came out was OK. But the radiator was a bit crusty around the...
How do you get the rubbers out? I though there would be a slot to slide them in, but unless it's rust fooling me there doesn't seem to be?
Or brute force oust them out?
Fair play, 12 years on and here we are.
Just changing the radiator on my 172 Cup and wondered if brackets were available to buy as mine are a bit grubby.
Turns out you can't buy them new anymore.
And for completeness and hopefully helpful to someone in the future
These are the non aircon...
Hunting rattles and I'm snooping around the boot area.
The boot latch. Is it adjustable, I seem to recall reading that they could be adjusted but I can't see how?
@Brigsy I think it's your thread I read where you adjusted the boot latch?
Now every Clio I've owned has had floppy inner TRE's and the the outer TRE's aren't usually far behind. Neither aren expensive so I did my research and bought some fresh ones.
The ones on there weren't that bad to be honest and at one point I did consider sending the back, getting a refund and...
Flat side to bearing/disc and tapered side to car.
It's not immediately obvious which side is tapered until you hold it in your hand. Even that above image, not really sure what side that even is! 😂
To finish of the rear refresh I thought it rude not to add some new rear discs and pads.
Sure we've all seen what old discs and pads look like but for the sake of documenting it:
Before
After
Looked like one bearing was on it's last legs as this rubber (at one time was rubber maybe?) seal...
Took just over a week. They had to get it done quick as they had bigger projects to smash out.
I had originally planned to refresh a second beam and supply that built up with rear brakes and bushes etc. But the second had beam I'd bought had a rust hole in it which I wasn't aware of until the...
Dropped the car off to a local place for removing the rear beam, tank and exhaust etc and having any surface rust treated with dinitrol RC900 and undersealed with dinitrol 4941 and lastly front wheelwells treated with dinitrol 4010 and a linolin based coating. Also the rear beam was given a lick...
Great question. I've tried getting them in position for a while, but the passenger side keeps touching the drivers wiper when it comes to rest. The only way to get them not to touch is to raise the passenger wiper.
In trying to sort this out (again) today, I noticed the spline on the passenger...
Boys, it's done.
Ordered genuine washers from PugFive ebay seller. Double the price of the 'genuine' 6438V8 knock offs on ebay but these are genuine and come in a citreon bag.
Genuine on the right, Chinese special on the left.
You can see just how different they are.
Lovely mist spread...
I couldn't find the thread where we were chatting about the spare wheel kit? Why I tagged you there. Thanks for the help... Mist washer jets next. 😅
Yeah, PMS rear stub axle spacers. Nothing on the front.
