Iv had this exact fault before and turned out to be a fuse. Doesnt have to be relating to the radio as such.
For the 10 minuits it will take you, its worth a check.
1st and best was my clio diesel which was sold
Then I had A 1990 Suzuki Swift GTi with cams and janspeed 4 branch (very fast for a little 1.3!)
Then I had A economical run about for a year, 1.9 D Turbo Citroen ZX
Then I bought my Megane Coupe
And...
Release it just to the left of the oil filler. then pull up at the top relasing the clips with your fingers towards the front of the car. Then pull the whole cover towards the back of the car.
Sounds like the head gaskets gone water to cylinder. Next thing to do to confirm this would be too whip all the spark plugs out ( see if any of them are wet), then spin it over to eject all the water in the cylinders.
They are a good part of a grand for 4 from renault and are VERY temperamentle.
Your best bet is probably ebay, but I wouldnt buy 2nd handers.
They also have to be coded to the car, but I assume your garage already knows that.

Remove the bottom radiator hose to drain. There wont be a tap on the mk2's.
Then refill with coolant and water and bleed the system via the valve cap thats on the thermostat housing. Road test, make sure hot air out of vents and re check level.
Coolant change..... DONE!
It only drives the alternator on the D4F, unless it has aircon which is driven by a seperate belt. Its only a weeny belt so shouldnt cost too much.
Water pump they should check when doing the job, its really only nesasary to replace it if its leaking, or worn etc.
Just follow this guide.
1. Remove wheels
2. The caliper is on top of the disc on these, remove that by removing the 2 13mm pin bolts. (you will have to hold the 15mm hex to get them out)
3. Remove pads ( you may have to hammer them out)
4. Remove the metal shims on the carrier and clean...
