Manual racks a bit of work either adjust the aux belt route by moving bits or use a pully in the place its only worthwhile if the PAS system has any problem as its just as cheap as a new rack which might be as many problems.

As vavazom said check the teeth and sensor on your wheels however it might not be the teeth on the driveshaft it might be one of the 5 sesnors (ne on each wheel and there on down by the handbrake). Fixing it if its the teeth on the shaft is easy you cna usually resue the old one just remove it...
