Brakes ABS kicking in

  clio si dti
for the last couple of months ive had a small problem with my brakes, what happens is whn im driving at slow speeds under 20mph and apply the brakes the abs for some reason kicks in and the brakes judder as if i wacked the brakes on at 50mph.

i changed both the discs and pads as i initially thought this was the fault as the discs were pretty bad but has made no difference, none of the calipers are seized so what else could it be?

cheers

had same prob mate!if u look on the driveshafts!theres little teeth!and a senser pointing at um!tell the computer when the wheels have locked or are about to!by counting the teeth as it rotates!my bet is like mine the teeth spline has sheered off and is just wobling around!there for confussing the computer and making it slam on the abs!drives shafts bout 60 quid well 4 mine it was!

As vavazom said check the teeth and sensor on your wheels however it might not be the teeth on the driveshaft it might be one of the 5 sesnors (ne on each wheel and there on down by the handbrake). Fixing it if its the teeth on the shaft is easy you cna usually resue the old one just remove it clean it up and stick it back on the shaft. new rings are quite cheap DIY you can fit a new one in an hour or so. Recomended to use a new 30mm hub nut but you can reuse the old ones although you arn't recomended to.
