Mk1s are definately heavy as standard (well valver/williams anyway), I fitted the 172 bits to my clutch setup when I did the conversion to make it lighter, and its fine now once you get used to it (same as 172). If you really want a decent clutch feel just convert it to hydraulic
Yeah, probably was something no setup right somewhere then lol. There are quite of people giving away the 320 engines on the E30 forum, but when I looked at it I dont think id bother, may aswell make the effort for a 2.5 or bigger. But at the end of the day, my LPG system wouldnt work on them as...
Paid £390 for it in the end, and pretty much paid nothing for the LPG system after selling the Red 316i :)
Yeah, they drive very smoothly!
The MPG on petrol aint too bad on a decent cruise. I get about 70-80 miles to £10 with majority motorway, so about 35-40mpg, and pretty much double that...
Jamie, unfortunately not!
and lol, never, ever!
Its too comfy, especially with heaters and the seat wound back. Radio is something ive not had for 3 years too! Suprising that a car this old can drive faultlessly with no knocks, rattles, whines or bangs - its just great! Its one of them...
I would have never owned a bimmer, or changed for the green one for that matter if they weren't as cheap as I got them. I thought the red one was cheap until I got the green one for hundreds cheaper...
Dont know how many people this will interest, but I'm bored and I know a couple of people have E30's on here. Well after SORN'ing the Clio for winter (well more than likely forever) I was on the lookout for a winter daily to get me about, and move car parts around. A mate was selling an E30...
Hmmm, well for the previous 16 months or so it sat just under half and never moved, as does a couple of the other 172'd Mk1s running the Ph1 clocks. Weird one!
It is possible on stock cams, its been done before with an exhaust pulley and a couple of other bits, along with blocking up the oil feed from the solenoid. I looked into it, even back to some posts on here from 2003/2004, and from speaking to Matt@TDF - BUT, timing them up is the only issue...
Yeah, possibly was as the inner rubber seal was split when I took it out too. I replaced it before Anglesey and it was fine on the day, its been parked up ever since. Will just have to see how it is next year, although it wont matter as much as it will be going from place to place on a trailer...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
For anyone interested in buying a set of Superleggeras - http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?543751-15-quot-OZ-Superleggera-%28ET37-7J-4x100-4.9kg%29-Powdercoated-Black
Nah - Im just going to smoke them too eventually, much prefer the 'darker' headlights/spots, especially now ive removed the trims and its on steels... I dont even need full beam with these in. Took a bit of adjusting to get the beams level, but they work well... was a 6000k kit from round the...
100% fine in the wet if you're not acting like a hero, standing water is OK if there is tread on them, not so much if they are nearly bald - but its easy to adjust your driving style dependant on conditions with them IMO
Correct, mine was for ages. Perfectly fine on the road...
...Until I did a full day of 100mph corners round Gerrards at Mallory, then it spat its dummy out. Luckily I had a proper Renault bolted circlip gearbox to replace it with
I have a 182 bottom end and a 172 Ph1 head, using 172 Ph1 inlets etc. All fine - made 172.4bhp so spot on really. Ive had the crank out of it before, but cant say I noticed much difference to the couple of f*cked Ph1/Ph2 172 ones I have, but I wasnt really comparing to be honest.
Also used a...
Ive got a spare coil pack mate if you want to try it.... and the brown wires that go to that relay are the ones that the immobiliser relay protects IIRC (earths for injectors/coilpack)...
When it was on the car would it crank on the key but obviously have no fuel pump etc? I still think...
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Yeah, it does sometimes until it feels like it 'picks up' very quickly. Although it does not feel like that all the time... it always had its days
Re: Mk1 F4R/172'd Track Car Project
Unfortunately not, I think something happened to the lambda probe early on in the day and I was one of the last cars to run so never got an AFR readout. It doesnt feel like the graph looks when driving for some reason (up down up down) but who knows, maybe...
I have LPG on an E30 touring, but I didnt pay for the system as I bought the car with it already on. The price of the car was a 1/3 of what the system was, so it was a no brainer really. I found some receipts where the previous owner had been filling up for 53p a litre from a gas supplier...
Ive just been having a think...
If you've changed the relays and checked the fuses (inc the fuses for continuity) there isnt much else it can be other than the loom. When my Immobiliser was still 'active' the fuel pump would prime, but not run when cranking. It wouldn't let the injectors or...
