Re: New to Forum, just put deposit down on 172 Cup, please help with couple of questi
Timing belt/cambelt are the same thing mate.
Usually the aux belt is replaced at the same time as the cambelt as it needs to come off for access.
Yes, brute force.
Wrap a screwdriver in a microfibre cloth and lever them off from starting at the back first and work your way round the bottom.
Or if you want to do it the hard but safe way, the whole bump strip needs to come off to give you access to the clips.
serious response....
100% get the dephaser pulley changed at the same time. I paid out for both belts to be replaced and the dephaser went 2 weeks later, so I sold the car.
Mileage like mine is nothing mate... just make sure it's been service properly and it'll be solid.
Although saying that, there's a nice whistle from my turbo at the moment... warranty here I come :)
The CHs are indeed awesome, and look great... but c'mon, who actually pays £1600 for wheels apart from Neil?
I've got some S-Line's lined up for it, just need to travel the planet to get them :)
Yup, sure is!
Seriously, everything just pulls off. The hardest one is the steering wheel insert, you will think it's about to snap but it won't. You might find it easier to pop one side of the airbag off from behind first.
Go carefully and you won't break anything.
Steering insert - just pull hard.
Gear insert - just lever out.
Dash strips - open glove box and pull.
Diamonds - pull off.
bullets - screwdriver to lever off.
So just to clear things up...
They cautioned you for driving without insurance - Nothing wrong with that.
They said you would receive a letter and 3 points - Plausable, but usually 6 points & fine.
They let you get back in the car and drive home, uninsured - This just contradicts the above...
