the actual tailpipe is just for show really, so won't make any difference to performance. What will, is the diameter of the tubing used for the length of the exhaust.

I reckon it's the exhaust heatshield. Perhaps it's been knocked out of place during fitting... try bending it away from the exhaust a little. It'd made from tin foil so shouldn't be too hard.

Italian tune up = Give it a good thrashing? It doesn't get many miles tbh... probably about 6-8k a year. Daily drive is 2 miles through town and 1 mile of DC. Thats it lol. If the exhaust was blowing slightly, would this cause more smoke and emissions light?
