Nope not written off, cost over £3k to fix my car and total claim was for nearly £4k.
Mine had a new bonnet, Xenon lights, wings, bumper, radiators, and panel that sits behind the bumper.

I wouldn't fancy being confronted by a flying magnetic side strip at 100 knots on the motorway.
You can be sure that wherever you put the strip, the dent would be in another place. Side strips don't work because car doors are all different heights.
Yes, I know several local members who both had Sony HUs with the factory SatNav working fine. They also hooked up a playstation to the satnav screen in the car :)
I use the genuine Renault Harmony roof bars... available from Renault for around £90 but pop up on ebay all the time for half that. Easily removable with a special key, takes minutes to fit/remove although I just keep mine on the car.
Looks much neater than the Thule ones imo.
