Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
yeh got a few things to sort, downpipe is knocking constantly, clean up the oil all over the subframe, bla bla bla, then should be reet!
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
well engines in bits now cams out again etc, just covered it all up for today
ordered new seals from reno (comes as a pack iirc) for 20 odd quid....gotta somehow get them tommorow when they come in...
then its just a matter of fitting the seals, timing it...
F4R engine....Fitted some schricks yesterday, reassembled, developed a leak from the camshaft seals (pulley end)...
Well only just found this out after stripping it down again....is the groove on the seal meant to be facing the pulley, or the inside of the head?
Thanks if anyone can confirm...
bens got his comfy r32 though too ;)
surely I cant be far off...no dash/heaters/blowers/polycarbs all round/doors+boot+bonnet skins cut out/2 buckets/6 point harnesses/manual steering/rock hard suspension......verges on silly for day to day use imo lol.
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
it only seemed to start leaking after I gave it some beans (upto 7k).....definitely wasnt before that as there is nothing on either driveway.....
defo feels like more torque, but didnt do it again so not noticed much tbh, drove it home under 2k revs....so...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
nah runs like normal, no odd sounds etc...
Its either going to be a cam end seal or the cap on the end of the dephaser.....sure they were both ok though!
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
nah, aint happening! shes made her mind up this time lol!
Gonna try and rectify the oil problem in the morning seeing as shes at work though, lol
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Ok...todays work...Bumper and bonnet off...
Cambelt covers off, cams, pullies and crank locked at TDC...SO much easier with the proper timing tools...
Rocker cover and original cams removed...
Schricks in place :)
Then put it all back together...
Re: Mk1 172 Hybrid Track Car Project
Fitted the schricks this afternoon, timed up runs fine etc etc...
Drove it from my grans to home (under a mile), was idling at home for 10 mins or so, then drove a few miles down the road....When i stopped, had quite alot of oil leaking from...
they are just a dealer for parcelforce/citylink/dhl etc....they were spot on every time i used them
i just put both alloys face against each other with a piece of cardboard to stop marking, then taped round them both with wrapping film to hold them together
