I wouldn't bother unless you have some other modifications.
You won't get much power as there not much can be done stock you will get some more mid range power though but its not going to be huge.
I used to have a set of Willwoods and I'd buy another set with no hesitiation there fine. If your using it for a lot of miles then dust sealed are the way to go even if there more expensive. I never had any trouble (beyond what I caused) to them in the time I had them stunning brakes.
The radio and alarm tricks are here.

You need the gearbox plus driveshafts and radiator and accociated plumbing. Then you need to figure a way round the ECU unless you want to swop all the looms. You could get a blank 1.6 ECU (£300 or so) and use that or get the 1.2 ECU remaproggramed to run the 1.6 engine.
Might be some water getting in I'd imagine you use a pressure washer which won't help.
They can fail though there was a batch of bad ones soem time ago but they can crack and fail.
£150 to £200 or so depends where you go to Renault or not.

Very good advice there Martin but the brakes at 239mm for the 1.2 8V and 259mm for the reast of the range any scrappies bound to have one in stock you need the caliperrs and the mounting brakcets new pads new brake lines and the bigger disks.
Why save for a 1.6 though? A 172 is the only one...
I'd think these would be the popyular choice.
There aparently a set they have in stock in the 182 dark grey colour they want shifting cheap just waiting for photos.
Your cars a conversion isn't it?
In which case you need to look to see if you've got a gearbox sensor which is being used if you have and its being used them you canot use a 182 box if it doesn't have a sensor then you can use a box. If you don't have a sensor you cna use any box you want...
I'd cover it if the AUX belt fails its usually expensive as it takes out the cambelt at the same time.
Then again my cars been like that for ages without issue.
I've souced a possible discounter for racing wheels. They would be drilled off for Clios with any offset you wanted although other cars could be made.
The range is availiable to see here.

If anyone interested either now or the future could you please tell post and I an then try...
Your not allowed to miss any services there a 1k/1 month tolerance though. Any more than that and Renault start asking for money if you have any cliams where correct servicing would have fixed the prob;lem.
