    lol... non RS clios heaps of s**t!

    A 172 or a 182 or a V6 or a turbo doesn't make you a fast driver. I prefere my dci to other Clios for what I want and its not just about economy.

    I'v a 65hp which has been hammered for 62k and much freer now. At the airfield today some drag racing a 1.4 16V and there was very little in it 2 car lengths after some time.

    Park it on the car park opposite the house for the time being. I've never had any trouble.

    Doesn't matter they loose value regardless milage won't make much isue mines worst about £3k with 30k on (3years old) and £2.5k with 60k. Related to 172's well 72 is big service time so they drop value for this but its no huge issue I'd never bother just enjoy it.

    Which replacement pads or discs (or both?) ?

    Best bleed the brakes as this can be the problem stock brakes are superb realy only track use or very hard road use kills them. Check them for wear only replace them if they've failed or are worn just have a look how thick the pads are. I'm in Taunton Saturday and Sunday at the airfield...

    High mileage 172 values

    It might be a bit loose but thats the way I like them (we are on about cars here arn't we?) Anyway second hand box and engine plus new dampers £900 then say £300 fitment at worse. Then again depends how its treated, the cigarette lighter might be the only thing of any value in a 130k 172.

    Where abouts are you there a load of people on here who will fit them its dead easy. Stock pads are a great compromise if you've no probelm don't upgrade if you want better DS2500's is the way to go.

    Ahve a look on the other Renault forums retro Renault I think somoene had posted a free guide on how to bodge the fuel pump for more power.

    blown engine

    Nope Megan not a direct fit a WIlliams is though. You can modiy the Megan head to fit and when ported it makes for more power than a ported Williams but for the effort just stick a new 1.8 16V head on it.

    You can get it extended upto 120k and 5 years if you want and its a superb warently just like the normal once I'd have suspension bits happily done on it and Renault know where my cars been abused.

    Thats a not a bad price for the £3.5k one thats the best there. £3k isn't bad but 144k it need a new cambelt (I'd say it ned ones ASAP change it ever 60k if there no warently and a new engine not to cheap). For an extra £500 you can have another 6 month more modern car and more time till it...

    Mk 1 Clio 1.8 16v vs. Williams

    The WIlliams got rated by Evo as the 6th best car of the decade compaired to the competition thats superb going. Rated by Evo as the best hot hatch ever not bad going the valvers very good but it will never have the heritage the Williams has IMO.

    Advertise for £3.3 and sell for 3k. Just an idea but I was offered £3k trade in 6 month ago on a stock dci same spec etc. Have a look in Parkers etc for prices though. Sell the mods there woth more seperate.

    Don't bother fixing it you'll only get the stone chips back gain soon. Do a bit of touchtup and leave it IMO. Unless you can get a good deal on a differetn CUp don't bother. I'd get an extended warently though.

    182 compared with mk 3 Clio diesel

    The engine will losen up a lot if you have to keep it a while just keep it above 3k all the time to speed it up. 43mpg is a bit low the Mk3's a bit heavier and its noticable. However when its got some more miles on anything under 50mpg unless its town driving shows somthing wrong. A diesel is...

    Head Needed For 172...So...

    Its a stright swop but the 182's use the smaller turbo block casting head which won't make as much power standard as a early phase 1 172 or a Mk2 early phase 2 car.

    buying a warrenty

    So long as the garage who serviced the car stamped the book you can get a normal Renault extended warently. EU rule means that so long as the book is stamped by a VAT registed garage the warently is intact.
