Finally fitted the new shocks and Eibach Sportlines yesterday and gave the car a blast today to bed them in. I cant fault them, they've completely changed the handling of my car compared to the apex :approve:
a few of you PM'd me asking for pics, so here ya go! the springs have now covered...
how someone can have a mint condition Mk1 with only 12000 miles under its belt... and do that to it amazes me!
sort those harnesses out or get the strut bar welded in, you may not care much about the car but at least think about your own life!
heh, no Tom... i used the s**tty renault jack to support the hub so it didnt pop out :o Thanks for your help mate!
i was suprised how well it went to be honest... Took me 2 and a half hours to do all 4 corners, and that was laying on the floor in the freezing cold outside my house :dead:
21mm deep socket... get them tightened up!
its not a BIG problem as the weight of the car keeps the struts in place, but you dont want them hand tight! lol
nip them up until you feel the resistance... the strut will spin when its tight enough as Justin says.
K-Tec were fantastic with my old xhaust.
i too bought the car with a K-Tec on it, and the baffles broke up. The prevous owner supplied me with the receipt, so i popped up the road to see David at K-Tec.
an hour later I had a new backbox fitted :approve: great customer service!
you should...
i do trackdays and a decent spring/shock setup does just fine. Most people who buy coilovers do so because of the adjustability... then set them up and never adjust them.
yeah sure, however the springs are only 4 miles old at the moment...
ive got pics of her on eibach pro's, apex, and now eibach sportlines.
its dark at the mo, so will take some pics tomorrow :)
save the cash.
never understood coilovers really, some decent springs and shocks do the same job!
coilovers were first designed as a space saving excercise iirc?
Well not strictly a new car, but it feels like one!
Today i went about fitting my new Eibach Sportline springs and new OEM shocks. I previously had Apex springs on worn out shocks. Wow! i had honestly forgotten how well my car handles, its really changed the characteristic of the car...
the windscreen doesnt get damp, it just steams up every time i get in the car when its cold... bloody annoying.
AC clears in within a matter of seconds... but i would rather put a product on the windscreen to stop it instead.
