ANy milage can depedn on use mine went at 6k or so I think (the rest of the clutch broke so were not totally sure. But the car had been 1/4 miling hard.
it will probably be rubbing on the arch liners get the wheel to one side when the cars topped and have a look see if the liners worn away.
if not you'll probaly need the strut top modification done under warently by Renault.
Check with the dipstick though after you've poured about 4 liters in you should need aboput 4.5 liters but depending how much you've got out will depend how much you get back in.
The new oil should be a lovly clear colour thats why its a paion to check sometimes.
Then pour the old oil into the...
Get it warm when you pick it up then give it some revs and full load ie full throttle up to 6k or so a few times. This helds make sure the rings make a good seal on the engine.
Also to bed in the brakes do hard braking for 60 to 5mph or so no dead stopping though ddo this hard a few times...
Go to halfrds etyc they'll check the battery for you see what its like get a good one with a warenty though and keeep the warently paperwork safe somewhere.
They are terriable but the Rs won't have the same seats so we might be safe but still if thats the only problem on the RS then I don't care even if you cannot/don't want to change the seats.
Stunning colour that I love them.
Have fun.
I'd recomend changing the oil at 1k though and the gearbox oil as well if your keeping it for a long time.
And give it a few coats of wax as well.
Dead easy to take hub off (10 bolts if you include the whell nuts) then get it to a agareg and get them to press it out and stick a new bearing in say £30.
I'd just get a second hand hubs though £30~40 or so for one.
Ok start the engine running for a minute or so helps make the oil a bit more vischious. Then turn the engine off.
You need an 8mm square sump nut adapter and a new sump washer (£1.1 from Renault don't skip this point as otherwsie the engine will leak oil)
Get under the car if you have a under...
The mayonasie is a mixture of coolent and oil which isn't good but the 1.2 16V's do this its a synpton of the car not having hot drive and the head hasgets gone but on the 1.2's it indicates the engines running they all do it.
I'd think its mostly likly someone like the fuel liones ahev worn...
Nope Mk2 owners are rich so they have to pay extra for a special washer.
The Mk1 washer would fit but if Renault say don't use it I'm not going to risk it.
The Mk2 washer is a bit bigger and wider and has a bit of rubber round the outside.
I change my oil ever 9k and it does make a difference I'd do it more but thats ever 5 or 6 months and then i chnage it when I've gone track days so that enough.
Air filters fine there no problem there best run it on the best disel not some cheap supermarket stuff that optimax etc stuffs the...
