same gearbox but the ratios appear to be different the twingos seem a chunk shorter, only reason I found out was when I had the tuned twingo GT and my mate had a tuned clio TCE, we were trying to do side by side rolling starts but couldn't find a gear to start in as both cars were at completely...
you sure it has a JB1 I thought that was just the 1.2's? JB1 has the starter motor on the front where the JB3 and JC5 have it on the rear (where it is on the 1.4 and 1,6) I Would imagine the JC5 diff fits the JB3 as they look identical last time I see 2 side by side!
That's why I said be sneaky lol, someone will be able to confirm if the 1600 block is bored out or if it's just stroke that's different, if it is just use the 1600 internals, if not bore it and use the Internals. Gives you the advantage you need over the lighter cars using the 1400s
can you get away with being sneaky and fitting the 1600 bottom end, the K4J and K4M (1600) are pretty much the same engine.
there was a guy on here called oliver_K4M I believe, he done a bit of tuning on a 1600 K4M fitted to a mk1 clio, its all applicable to the 1400 too
id like another shot in an ep3 as I drove my mates old one at length and hated every minute of it, fast, nice box, the steering was atrocious im starting to think it must have had something wrong with it as people seem to rate them highly!
Im not so sure, my mates just traded his 200 EDC in after it got a new box under warranty for making horrid crunching noises during changes! not a chance im willing to take voiding the warranty on a 1 year old 24k car lol a job for when its out of warranty!
Awesome era, this was just before I got into rally, I was the Colin mcrae in the impreza and Tomi in the Evo era!
The big attraction for me was you could watch that on a Saturday and walk into the dealer on a Sunday and buy your favourite rally car, Escort Cossie, Impreza, Evo, Celica GT4...
I like the idea of it but I've had 5 visits to the dealer and still don't have working electric windows, I don't fancy trying to get a new gearbox off them ?
The 220 has no poke? What are you compairing it to? Lol I've found its savage compaired to the previous generations! Massive step up especially in low to mid range torque, the way it slingshots it's self out a bend at 2500rpm you would need a 197 up past 5500rpm to match and a few gears lower...
Having owned both infect having owned a trophy too I'd say 172 cup is my favourite, can't decide if I preferred the ph1 or not over the cup
I think it looked brilliant, felt a bit more raw to drive, it was a hooligan car!
My mate has an M3 in a very similar colour, Matt finish, he got his rear bumper done after it was hit at a place in Central Scotland who matched it perfectly first time, flawless job, they have just done a full side of my mates m140 after it got keyed too and it's flawless http://www.fozsports.co.uk
Wheel cover off, rs steering wheel insert, rs mats, hid kit, silver badges back on, machine polish, twingo rs 17s, springs. And of course a remap then enjoy
Bit of warning on the van mate they are expensive to tax I can't remember the total as I nearly fainted and done mine by DD so I pay £22 per month.
If I was you find one in the scrappies, remove the rear Interior plastics, half bulkhead and the floor then get the window panels colour coded and...
Big Iain who used to be on here was breaking a pearl black dci on the MK2 Clio owners club on Facebook with colour coded side strips to save you painting the damaged one!
There's a few good engines, 1.5 dci is a peach, 1.2 tce is good and the 1.6 tce in the rs is great, or at least the 220 is!
The 900cc thing is a good wee driver surprisingly refined and doing 50mpg! But slow for me but she likes it. Going to get it mapped in a few months
Yeah it's a strange one mate, this doesn't appear to have been pampered during its life either and it literally doesn't have a single rust spot anywhere!
Not enough, slow as a week in jail. Drives nice, step up from a 1.2 16v, big step down from the mapped 1.5 dci it replaced but it was cheap and does 50mpg!!
Sun came out so a pair of PilotSport4 on the front replacing the 2 worn SuperSports. Feels like an upgrade tbh! Was never too keen on the supersport compaired to the PS4
Fitted my smaller front plate from fancy plates and then gave it and the Mrs new GT TCE90 a scrub!
202hp I remember that an FN2 Type R made 210hp on the same day so id say bang on the money at 190hp ish! im sure it was the R27 as I dont think the 200 lasted long enough to get near a set of rollers!
They take a wee bit of getting used to even coming from an n/a 172 I always thought it loved that last 1000rpm just where the 172 would start to run out of puff.
I can't remember if it was this or my 200 but I had one of them on the rollers at extreme and it made peak power at the limiter!!
I think this is probably my favourite car I owned out of all the rs clios Ive owned, I put a pair of brand new genuine 200 cup front dampers on it not long before I sold it. That transformed the handling. That was the only mod other than the akrapovic that I fitted. It had a panel filter when I...
It's years since I looked into it but I'm sure you needed washers to space the caliper out slightly, and there was a better choice of disc too that I think was slightly bigger than 280mm. Someone fitted them to a 1.6 16v Clio I want to say minivalver but I might be wrong!
