    The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

It’s not all glamour, he has E type & mk2 jags which I’m no fan of. Old Aston is a pain with mechanical fuel injection too. The older Ferraris are cool though (365/512/308’s) porsches are never much bother. I work in a garage 4 days now and my boss wants me there more but I save Fridays for...

    The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

Back on the classic work yesterday as weather is getting there! Five months since I’ve been out to him and have a long list. Fuel leak on this, modern fuel seems to be playing havoc with his older car’s fuel systems as been having fuel leaks on everything. New pump needed. Meant pulling...

    The Cars Spotted Appreciation Thread

Think with Rod it was just a case of old school guy meets modern forum, he was a bit of a ledge building that car if you ask me. Certainly loved reading the mags back in the day when I had my Saphs. The user ‘Scooby Slayer’ on passionford has the car now, thread in project section. Makes...

Cars you sold that are now worth a fortune

I couldn’t even tell you of a time I’ve broken down stranded in a car of mine. Aside from the rats nest of vacuum pipes (I’d go single and ditch all the boost control crap) they’re pretty basic engines and reliable enough. Yes they wear out but maintain and they’re fine. There’s not really...

Cars you sold that are now worth a fortune

Skyline R32 GTR Clio V6 RX7 Evo 6 RSX etc etc I do genuinely regret selling the GTR aside from value, loved that car but was just in the days where I’d want to try everything and move on.

What have you guys beat in your clios

Depends what that was on I guess. If it was a gearbox rebuild or bodywork/rust it’d put me off or at least require a serious discount but I don’t really sign up to the whole “it needs £1000 of servicing” so it needs to be £1000 cheaper. To me the price of maintenance is a moot point really as...

    The New Phone Thread

Just reading the above about screen protectors and scratches on them, not liking them etc. Make sure you get a glass screen protector not the plastic film ones. Mate of mine won’t listen to me and runs plastic crap, scuffed to hell, air bubbles and dust under the edges. Makes me feel queasy.

I was a cossie man 20 odd years ago and you’re right there. I’d imagine Rods one was somewhat safer than mine but I recall having a tussle with my mate on his R1 on this private track which had a long drag turning into a very slight left curve (you’d not notice at normal speeds) at 140 the...

    20k miles Clio 172 - £12,995

Iceberg is a great colour. I agree they look crap in pics on silver 5 spokes and by far the worst choice std in pics but it’s my fav 172 colour and comes alive with anthracite Turinis. It turns really blue in some lights. I remember taking my iceberg V6 to a wedding and guests were all over...

What have you guys beat in your clios

Let’s hope it wasn’t a 1.2 with a GTI badge then. Seemed pretty rapid though (and my little 172 goes ok, 185bhp)

What have you guys beat in your clios

I got dusted by a polo GTI in mine. Some kid up my arse off a roundabout one night, “ha, I’ll show you junior”... thing just sailed passed me when I was at full chat up the bypass. Seemed odd to me at first as I’m old and a polo was always a slow old woman’s car, but they’ve been turbo for a...

Clio 172 Cup OEM+ Restoration Keeper

Do you seal the headlights with anything? Mine always look bad after a few months and the same again after a year but I’m sure I read people would spray them with UV resist lacquer?

    Catalytic converter prices

Science innit. Seriously though I’d imagine some sort of chemical refining process. Not seen it on these but went through a phase of watching people do it with gold and it usually involves chemicals/acids and then refining it down to a solution with the metal suspended in it which can then be...

Where’s the Clio filled with wood, fibreglass and a 55” tv

Imagine when he has an electrical fault in the future and realises the only way to get at the UCH is to smash through 8” of body filler. The silhouette isn’t bad but when you see the thickness of it all up close, blimey. He’ll need a turbo k20 to move it.

Will I destroy my lovely Clio Cup ????

Thing is, if you want more power just buy a better base to start with. I hated my 172 when I first got it, coming from years of turbo cars (and still owning two alongside it) but it really grew on me when I took it for what it is. Turbo is going to be a total character change IMO. I used to...

Will I destroy my lovely Clio Cup ????

Sod the turbo, go for cams, bodies etc. Yes it’ll only be 200bhp but it’ll be way more in keeping with the car. It’ll be a wheel spin boost nutter with a turbo plus a load of extra weight and heat.

    Power Tool Perverts

This thing is just a £200 tablet in a £200 roller cab with a £100 monitor. Gotta be a big earner for them. Pretty sure it was £11k (I might be talking bs but can’t find prices and even just the little roller cab box is £3k on eBay without the guts!) I know they want £600 just for the...

    Power Tool Perverts

Our snap on diagnostic was £11k I think (comes in a roller chest). But it’s just one way to spend some money in a business. It’s pretty crap too IMO. I brought my laptop in with forscan on as the snap on wouldn’t even work properly on a nearly new transit the other day. Snap on man’s answer...

    Power Tool Perverts

I’m not about to buy one mate. Crazy money. But if I did have the bucks I’d go for the IR one out the lot of them as they’re really high quality Have you used the latest Snap on one though? My work mates have the prev model (mine is a really old one) and theirs seem to be unreliable with...

    Power Tool Perverts

Of course I’ve seen it. But have you used a proper 1” lorry air impact gun with the right compressor behind it? It’d spin the Milwaukee back into the recycled coffee stirrers it’s made from.

    Power Tool Perverts

My current snap on man hates me haha, no finance with me. I’ve only ever paid outright and unlike everyone else still have my trusty old Mac tool box. My old neighbour was a snap on dealer and I used to buy stuff off him cash. Only stuff I really like from them is the gold coloured torx bits...

    Power Tool Perverts

Yeah, your ‘milwaukee red’ tinted specs are scratched to buggery mate. The air bit especially, maybe a Lidl one but nothing’s touching air in our garage for outright poke (and I have to use air only prob once a month) I honestly think my ultimate choice would be the latest Ingersol Rand 1/2”...

    Power Tool Perverts

You won’t go far wrong with the milwaukee. They definitely aren’t as solid as the snap on for pro use but I’ll get another one if my snap on 1/2” gun ever dies. If they were the same money I’d get the new snap on one but the price is crazy and no way they’re worth that much more. I have the...

Where’s the Clio filled with wood, fibreglass and a 55” tv

Maybe I’ve watched a different video to everyone else. He’s obviously spent many hours on it but how is he that bad? When he peered into the door it looked like a bomb had gone off and wood was splintered everywhere. Then ‘closing’ the door down... if he’s of sound mind then it’s shocking...
