    NW Meet - 13th October 2009

Highly doubtful as I've already booked all days off at work, we were all forced to book all our holidays off for this year and next. Lol. Really? never realised it was that far away and yeah can't do what I did last time when I crashed the ZSOC.com meet lol.

    NW Meet - 13th October 2009

Lol cheers mate, it's a shame it's so obvious it's not a 1.4 though, all you have to do is look at the rear wheels and notice the rear brake discs. You've still not had ago with mine yet matey :rasp: Seriously though I wouldn't mind having abit of blast against your Fez, on a private raceway...

    Another DS2500 fitting question

Strange isn't it? I've tried greasing mine to no avail, my biggest concern was something wasn't right, didn't fancy going for spirited drive then the brakes decide to give up completely lol. I daren't take anymore off the metal backing plates on my pads because if I do, I'm pretty sure they'll...

NW meet - 29th of October

That abandoned warehouse we used last time isn't a option though, drove past it before and it was in the process of being knocked down :(

    Another DS2500 fitting question

Just checked the box and they are the 565H version. The confusing thing is, when they're up to a decent temperature why they squeal while the brakes aren't being applied and when I do brake the squeal goes away lol. Edit: Forgot to add, the squeal is coming from the drivers side.

    Another DS2500 fitting question

I'm not to sure to be honest Fred, I thought there was only one type of DS2500 pad. Depending on which one I've fitted, would it make a difference?

Who crashed on Cov ring road?

Lol. So sympathetic :rasp: Doubt the owner will admit it if he/she is on here though lol.

    Sorry, stupid tyre question....

Yeah all 182s were fitted with the 205 width as standard, alot do fit 205s to the 172s as well. The only thing you'll probably notice is more tramlining when burying the throttle.

    Another DS2500 fitting question

Cheers anyway mate. Yeah, I'll give them a few miles like you say and see how it goes, I can deal with the noise it's just I'm a little worried incase something maybe wrong, 1st time I've attempted to fit brakes lol.

    Another DS2500 fitting question

Yeah I've removed enough material off the backing plate to allow about 1mm of play in the carrier. I needed to take quite abit off as well.

    Another DS2500 fitting question

They're new as well, Brembo HC discs. I did run the DS2500's on old discs for about 3 miles though.

    Sorry, stupid tyre question....

I was abit skeptical about them as well but after trying them I doubt I'll ever use anything else for the Clio. Great tyres. Oh and it was continental sport contacts that were fitted to the 172 Cup as standard, not to sure if that was the same for the 172 though.

    ds2500 fitting probs?

Chances are you'll need to file/grind off a little off the metal backing on the pads, if you fit them to tightly they'll bind and you'll end up with them squealing. I've just fitted a set myself but even after filing the pads I'm still getting squealing from them.

    Another DS2500 fitting question

I've searched and found various things regarding fitting but I've still failed to remove the infamous squeaking/squealing. Strangely I only seem to get the squealing/squeaking while the brakes aren't being applied. Once they've warmed up they start squealing and it's while I'm driving, once I...

    Fitting new disc and pads.

There was a slight mark in the pad along the top edge where it's been rubbing against the lip on my old discs. Managed to get everything fitted anyway, thanks for advise.

    Fitting new disc and pads.

Ahhh I see. I've not covered much mileage with the current set up, maybe 3 miles at the max, or will it still be to late?
  27. Jonff

    Fitting new disc and pads.

No, my new discs haven't been on the car yet as I couldn't remove the old discs so I've only fitted the new pads. Another thing I noticed after fitting the new pads though was, if you press the brake pedal they seem to lock the disc up, it takes some force to get it spin again but once you have...

    Fitting new disc and pads.

Tried that mate, also tried hammering a bigger bit in but no joy as it just rounded again, I think they've seized to the hub.
  29. Jonff

    Fitting new disc and pads.

Just a couple of questions as I've attempted to fit mine today. I couldn't fit my discs because those torque screws that hold the disc to the hub have rounded off, what's the best way to remove them? drill the head? I've fitted my pads (Ferodo DS2500) but there's an issue, I took the car out...
