So i'm looking for a shed around £500 to use while I save for a new gearbox/clutch/labour etc,
and I thought that looks alright I wonder where it is?
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3037415.htm
In the for sale section they are, but i'd have no idea what condition it was in before it was for sale,
ClioSpares are £350 collected from Doncaster, or £400 delivered for a box that's been tested with a 3 month warrenty.
That's second hand, a refurbed box from them is £450 collected and £500...
£400 quid delivered for a secondhand box from Cliospares with 3 month warrenty, new clutch because everyone recomends it £120 eurocarparts, Labour from Fred budget for £500 to be on the safe side.
Or am I being thick and it'll cost alot less than that?
Could be worse, my gearbox exploded at 70mph on Saturday.:(
It's now stuck in gear and i'm going to have to get at least a grand together to get a replacement and have it fitted.
If it's got tits or wheels it'll cost you a fortune and give you nothing but sh*t.;)
I've got a set of these ready to go on, unfortuately they arrived 2 days after my gearbox exploded. LOL
Did you use a vice or press to get them in, or did you manage it with your hands?
Mine did this when I first got it, the rear bounced around on the smallest bumps, and stepped out if you showed it a corner.
Luckily the guy that sold it to me threw in a set of rear dampers off a 182, so I sorted it within the first week of owning it.
When I removed the knackered rears they...
Wierd!!!
Although i've seen far worse tbh, at least he's not messed the side skirts up or put a snow plough on the front.
Tints and lights need removing immediately.:nono:
When I rang Renault the other day they said the exact oil for a 1*2 gearbox was TransElf NFJ 75W80 GL-4,
but 75W90 will do aswell, just make sure it's GL4, I asked the same question the other day.

I haven't got an extention long enough in my socket set to reach the battery clamp, if I just disconnect the positve terminal aswell will that be good enough, or should I just gets an extention from Halfords and whip it out anyway?
I did that before and the door open 'beeeeeeeep' went off even though the battery was disconnected,
I just did it again and i've managed to lock it all then disconnect the negative terminal, the 'beeeeeeeep' was sounding,
I shut the bonnet and it shut up.
So I though job done, I unlocked the...
My car's going to be sitting on my drive for a few months due to a broken gearbox.
I've disconnected the battery so it doesn't go flat, but obviously I can't lock the boot.
The only thing of value in the car is the HU, which I might end up sticking in whatever
shed I buy in the mean time...
Following on from my broken gearbox thread http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?593141-BANG!!-amp-the-gearbox-is-gone.
I had a quick look at it today and it's covered in crap that could be the gearbox oil,
the only thing is I think it might have been there for a while as it's half...
The sump tray was wet with oil when the engine oil was changed last week, as was everything under the sump tray,
but it didn't seem like loads, which is why I thught it was a leaking rocker cover bolt,
as I found one that wasn't tight and was weeping, so I sealed it and thought job done.
I'd...
As I spent an hour and a half sitting waiting for recovery on a grass verge of a roundabout off the A46,
all that was going through my mind was 'BLOODY FRENCH!!'
But I guess you can't have that much fun and enjoyment out of a car without a little pain every now and again.
I also...
Well I rang BTM Fred the other day about my grindy second gear and he recommended rebuilding my existing box as he thought
it was just a sellector, but after todays destruction I think i'll just get a £400 quid box delivered from ClioSpares,
buy a new clutch and just have them swapped.
Then...
I hope not as it could get expensive, although I know i'm looking at the best part of a grand to get it sorted.
It's a good car with a strong engine and apart from todays gearbox nightmare, there's nothing really wrong with it.
I've had the car 4 years and this is the first major thing that's gone wrong with it,
so I guess i'm lucky really as i've read horror stories of people buying 1*2s and they've had the cam belt snap on the way home
or a few weeks later.
A second hand box is £400 delivered from ClioSpares...
Yeah, I got a breakdown truck to bring it back to my house and managed to pull it on to my drive so on Monday i'll have a look,
i've got work tommorow and will be driving my mums £400 Mondeo shed............oh how the mighty have fallen. LOL
I now worried that it's knackered the driveshfts...
So i'm driving home from work today on a duel carriageway with no hard shoulder or laybys,
i'm doing 70mph for quite some time and all of a sudden CLUNK!!
The car starts decelerating so hit the clutch take it out of gear a release it and it starts declerating again, so I franticly try...
The clear stuff does, according to their website it makes glass shatterproof, whether that's true or not who knows,
i'd imagine it would be more effective as a chip prevention, although I wouldn't spray it on my windscreen...
Ok just so people know if they do a search, i've just rang Renault and asked for the exact gearbox oil for my 172,
I gave them my Reg and they have said that it's TransElf NFJ 75W80 GL-4.
Where I live in Coventry the dealership sells it in bulk, so I have to take a container with me, but for...
By lacquer them do you mean the clear PlastiDip that makes them look gloss or proper lacquer,
because surely lacquer would make it permanent, as in impossible to peel off at a later date?
Car looks great by the way, the orange bits work well.:approve:
After reading countless threads about gearbox oil I have a question.
Is this the stuff Renault recomend/sell for about £50 ?
http://www.ukpricebusters.com/acatalog/Elf_Tranself_NFP_75W-80_Gear_Oil_5_Litre.html
Because it says GL4 and all the threads say GL5 apart from one.
They look really good, I like the contrast between the textured matte black and the gloss orange.
Is the orange Plastidip with the clear coat, or it is normal paint?
