Quite smart looking in the blue, looks a lot more tasteful than the old one.
Being a total 500 Abarth noob, what's the difference between a normal one and a 595? And a Competizione?
I think it depends how much you're going to use it. I don't do a huge amount, so wanted something that was ok, but didn't break the bank. I also use it for work on occasion too.
We're going back a couple of years now, but I bought a used Canon 400D on eBay that came with a couple of lenses...
I've known a couple of people to have MK3 MX-5s and I wasn't really impressed to be honest. The interior looks ok from a distance, but once you get into it, it all feels a bit cheap and nasty I found. The ride was always pretty terrible in the Sport models I went in, as bad as my lowered Clio...
I would think you could just swap over the whole engine loom etc, but I'm sure someone on here will be able to advise you. I suspect it won't be as hard as it sounds :)
I think the easiest approach would just be to buy a ratty 172 and swap the whole front end over. Your car is pretty well stripped now so, if you think about it, you're halfway there already!
I have been thinking about this thread (I don't know why!) and I am beginning to lean towards the opinion above.
Are you determined to stay in the 1600 class? The problem is that someone in a boggo Civic already has a huge advantage over you.
I wonder if you might be better just fitting a...
Bought mine as a temporary measure to last a few months, and am just over a year into ownership. To be honest, driving to work, it does my head in. It's noisy, uncomfortable and has no equipment on it. But, the smile it puts on your face when you're in the mood, makes it a very difficult car to...
Thanks, very interesting. How fragile is the box? I suppose it depends on whether the car has had the s**t kicked out of it all it's life as much as anything.
It's a car I have always had an inkling for I must say, and values will certainly go up rapidly at some point.
Looks lovely this. My favourite of the M3s, certainly the last "proper" one in my view.
What is the SMG box like? I've always wondered about one of these, and think it's the kind of car that would suit a paddle shift, but hear a lot of bad things about the box.
What's the difference between...
Insurances companies are bloody con artists. It's all just blatant profiteering and screwing people over, but the government aren't interested in getting involved.
If you have an accident, even if you are not at fault and all costs are recovered, there is every chance your premium will go up...
Precisely. If you like it, then who cares what a load of people on the internet think.
Tis a nice car regardless. Wasn't sure I'd like a five door, but it looks well.
My Escort rally car has a Quaife diff in it and it's pretty good. There are better options out there no doubt, but it works well for the cost.
If you're going to be using it on the road still, I think a Quaife is probably a better option. I'm sure you'd get most of your money back when you come...
Looks stunning that, makes mine look a right shed!
Be interesting to see it with the new springs on. Mine currently has Pro Lines and I have wondered about swapping.
When I bought my Cup it had a Ktec exhaust with no middle silencer and it was just horrendous. Constant noise. At no point did it sound good, it was just noise. I've fitted an OEM system which was about £100, though they seem a bit fragile to be honest.
Otherwise, mine has a couple of poly...
Yes indeed you did, and you totally out-smarted me going up that slip road lol
Your car looked tidy, mine is a right shed by comparison, even without all the mud that is currently adorning it!
I suppose they don't get used by most for the daily grind so less likely to see them out and about. Would love a look some time. I'm not in Norfolk as much as I'd like due to work but I'm sure something could be worked out. A friend of mine has always had a real hankering for one and I keep...
The 1600 class can be tough, some big spec motors out there. Saying that though, there is in every class!
My Escort will never be truly competitive, but I like the cars and get as much fun out of tinkering as I do anything else, so just have to enjoy what you have. The Clio could make a fun...
Like this, didn't realise that Norfolk was home to a collection of V6s. I do remember seeing one on the road around Acle way once when I was commuting. Would love to have a look at one up close, interesting cars!
Ahoy.
The steering on mine isn't great. I think going through and giving all the bushes a freshen up is a good first modification. I've done most of mine now, just need to do steering rack and ARB bushes and it makes a big difference to start from something you know is in good order.
I've got a couple of short clips of it on YouTube from the New Brighton Prom Stages in September. Only done on my phone so not exactly stunning quality.
Steve, if you want these for any reason, let me know and will put them on dropbox for you. I resisted posting the Epynt one I sent you!
You should put some proper pictures up, it's a cracking little car.
Sorry to hear you had troubles, least it's nothing too major though. What are your plans for next year with it?
