All that money and he went and bought it in brown? No accounting for taste...

That's what they all say lol.

Looks lovely that, perfect with those wheels, the colour, the spoiler and the seats. Look forward to seeing what you do with it!

The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

Alloy bend all the way, not into the full silicone look myself.

    Phase 1 on another forum

I know this isn't eBay/PH etc but saw this for sale on passionford in case anyone is interested: http://passionford.com/forum/cars-for-sale/491615-cheap-ph1-172-project.html

    trackday action cam

I have a couple of the fake ones and they've done the job. They were so cheap that I just use them for external video. If it comes off and I lose it, it doesn't matter. I was planning to buy a GoPro as I'd like a mic port for my intercom, but may look into the hack.

    Clio 1.4rt 1994

Yes, buying a 172 would make more financial sense but, if people wanted to make financial sense, they'd be driving a little diesel runabout. Life is too short. It's your car and your money, do what you want to it.

    Daily mods?

So much truth in this. Lowering a car rarely makes it better on the road, it just makes it feel like you're going faster. The more hardcore and track focused you make the suspension, the worse the car gets on the road and, crucially, the smaller its operating window becomes. Put most people...

    Daily mods?

Just refresh everything with new OEM bits, they're not too expensive. It will transform it if there are a lot of original bits on there, as they'll likely be pretty worn by now. That's more than fine for a road car in my view.

    Clio Cup Racer

Car looks good, but the pictures are terrible lol.

Deposit put down on this beauty!

Like it. One of these is definitely on my list.

    Fiesta st rollcage

White looks ace, but is a total pain in the arse to keep clean. I'd go with gun metal silver. It's the current trend among the WRC boys and looks ace. Then white outside.

    Clio Cup 172

Saw this parked at Snetterton earlier this year, looked lovely.

Standard discs and pads for the track?

I'm sure I did a couple of days on standard Brembo pads. Yes they go off after a while, but you shouldn't be doing more than 15/20 minutes at a time anyway. If people are at the point that they need to take a spare set, I would have to wonder if they have a sticking brake caliper! I was boiling...

RS Clio 172 Storm Grey Track toy

Williams wheels are so cool. Not so into the black bit at the bottom of the front bumper, but love the car overall, great colour combo.

    Civic FN2 Track Car

This looks great in black with the Mugen bits. Not so keen on the rear tow eye, but love it otherwise.

    Jekyll's RB182 Progress Thread

Do love this car, some really nice little details. Probably my favourite RB on here.

Standard discs and pads for the track?

I've used the Brembo OE pads and they were fine for me. Perhaps I don't brake as hard and late as some of the CS heroes but I certainly wasn't giving them an easy ride.

The Fatty's KTEC alternative induction setup that works just as well!

What leg length do people go for with these? My friend has just bought a 172 and it has the worst IK ever seen on it, so was going to advise him to go for this. It's ages since I did mine so I can't remember what length I bought. The original eBay listing for mine doesn't exist anymore.

    Powerflex Rear Exhaust Hanger

I did similar, bought a really cheap one on eBay and filled it with Tigerseal. It might not last forever but a lot of the aftermarket ones are much more expensive so thought it was worth a go.

    Fitting Small Fuel Tank

So around 3kg saving in you think? As you say, not a huge amount. Depends on the use of the car though I guess. Every little helps, just got to be careful where you place it. Could you not make a little ally tank and place it under the car, where the standard one is? You save weight but also...

    Fitting Small Fuel Tank

It would be interesting to see the weight difference by the time you're done. Once you've got the new tank in and put a firewall round it, I wonder how big the saving will be. Also worth noting that, unless you mount it right down on the floor pan, then you're moving that weight higher up in the...

    Motorsport? Racers get in here!

I went had a look at this over the weekend, looks alright if you want a relatively cheap way to try your hand at competitive driving: http://www.javelinsprintdays.co.uk/JTSS/

    Motorsport? Racers get in here!

I know these guys are a bit out of the way, but Chelmsford Motor Club have got into targa rallies in a big way. There is some info here: http://chelmsfordmc.co.uk/node/3711 Worth looking for motor clubs in your area to see if they are running anything similar.

'My mate done a video' - contains Impreza 22B vs EVO VI TME on Welsh roads

Not a bad video that. I do like the Makinen, but the 22B is just the ultimate rally rep for me. Definitely one of the dream garage cars.

Does anyone know this car? HY02 YVX?

My friend bought a Ph.2 172 from an auction last night for the princely sum of £450. Thought I'd ask on the off chance that it had been a member's car at some point!

Do you mean fitted the PMS manifold with the standard inlet? Any pics? Where did he mount the coil pack?

    Motorsport? Racers get in here!

Targa rallies could be an option? Somewhere between an autosolo and a road rally. Start getting into racing and stage rallying and it costs a fortune. Javelin Track Days run their own sprint series.

    172 Cup Stage Rally Car

Great videos Paul. Really do want to rally my 172 some day, would make such a good little car. If only I'd known that before I started the Escort!
