Welcome to you both, all I got was/is abuse about my lights, and that's only lights  But if you stick with a look I think people here stop caring, as long as you fit a CS sticker and polybush your dogbone...
Also, the amount of time and money this forum has saved me is astounding. Though...
I've fitted the Pioneers, all 6 along with a new Sony head unit. Until I have time/motivation to add a mini sub+amp it was all I could do but I think it made a huge difference. The build quality of the standard ones are a lot worse than the Pioneers IMO but as @Goodj states the HU must be done...
Cheers, Maybe make the headlining a job for the winter, did it take a long time to dry?? Then I'll want to do all the roof plastics black too I think. Though the sun visors might be tricky.
Oh, and I really want the extra low frames, sorts pretty much my main dislike out completely.
Looks good so far mate,
How did you do the headlining?? Total removal required?
A-pillars just halfrauds satin? They are two things that really irritate me.
Cheers
Definitely seems expensive, get quotes from their garages for an alternator change then get back to them about it. Also, the old alternator was yours so if you want it back they have to give it back surely??
Haha, we'll see where it ends up eh. Thanks, I'm enjoying it at the moment but really need to go for another long proper drive to remind me where all the money has gone. Hopefully Loch Lomond next week after tracking so I'll be all smiles again. I might actually get some carbon dipped...
Thanks! I just don't really like the standard ones, maybe I'll change them eventually but not for now. I'd love someone to make some that look nicer than the OEM ones but not so full lexus. Probably when I get to a meet finally and someone just kicks them in out of disgust 🔨:tonguewink:
So, hopefully the mystery clunk is solved. The car is with rentec at the moment for new lower ball joints, one had come loose (not fitted with right bolts after work done by me, not surprised but I was about to replace). Don't mind too much as new ball joints at 70K aren't exactly unexpected and...
I just used halfords body shop primer and Renault pearl black then lacquer though lacquer is dubiously needed. Worked fine apart from being lazy and not sanding. So I guess just a weird paint+primer reaction. Not too expensive a problem at the end of day but all I can suggest is to clean off and...
Might see what price I can get them for with just the preloaded. Cant stretch far though. I was being tempted back to OEM for £65 instead of £140 delivered for PMS, though they look like nice kit for the money, no doubt about that.
Cheers, at the end of the day as long as the figures are right and it drives well then that's the main point. Got to get my solid mounts fitted then I'll see what they can do.
Nah, I have a BG on the south side. Haha, my first car was a 1.4 16v in the same blue as yours! Loved driving it! The...
How did you find CLCM? Booked in with them at the start of next month for tracking. Might have them for top mounts too if they will.
Cheers!
Also, sure I saw you or another flames on the south side of Edinburgh a couple weeks ago!
Yeh, even with the discount we get on stuff with them I just cant see the difference, apart from maybe that the ktec one can be tightened and it fits over the engine cover??? Does PMS require cover removal?
That's what I figure for much less than £96. I removed it, gave it a quick wipe down and sued some copper grease on both the spring and the bit you pull on externally. As long as this latch is firmly engaged I cant see it just flying open.
Cheers both!
Yeah, the top mounts do rotate and lift very slightly when turned lock to lock but shouldn't be noisy. I might have another check and see if they are tight.
Cheers
Think I probably will, unless someone can justify the cost of ktec over pms. Or if anyone thinks I should get OEM again... Car wont be on track for at least another year apart from maybe one day but I want to make it as high spec as is reasonable in the very long run so feel these might be worth...
Hi, As per my other thread in this section I am having some noise issues from the front, most likely due to worn top mounts that I think are unhappy after changing shocks and springs. They are probably the original ones now on 70K and I would have been looking at solids eventually anyway.
So...
So I jacked the car up and couldn't see anything obvious. Maybe some excessive movement and definitely noise from top mounts but that was it. Might order new ones. See different thread on this decision. Cheers for any info. anyway.
So, after seeing this mentioned and owning a clio before I finally bothered to phone Renault to see if this has "re-call" work had been done on my car.
First point - It is and NEVER was a re-call. They were doing at reduced or lowered costs as they acknowledged the problem but it came down to...
Cheers bud, this forum has pretty high standards so it makes me think it's not going well but I am happy with it just now(mystery clunk aside).
I would email Renault Wolverhampton on here and ask them for a price. If they can't get them then maybe Renault parts direct. Or bother to measure them...
Definitely had Rentec(Edinburgh) do the rear beam bushes. The front wishbone ones were a complete pain, should have just got new wishbones and removed the oem bushes. They had to order one new bolt, one came out but had to be cut off. Everything generally feels better but until I have the...
Just read most of this. That engine bay is now my target :) RS2 might be my way forward too as ITBs do seem a lot of money for not much gain. Good work bud!
Some more photos of random bits and pieces after all the work carried out.
Cleaned the backbox slightly(exciting stuff)
New rear axle bushes - really want to have all lower components removed and powder coated but a distant dream just now.
Before the rain prevented me claying it all
Shiny...
Fitted to the side rear window in the top front corner and it seems to be pretty good so far, cleared the dead spots I had before so I will test more next time I'm out in the sticks. Managed to tuck under the headlining edge and inside the A-pillar cover pretty easily. Cheers @R3k1355 anyway...
Morning all,
At the moment I have some knocking/creaking from my front end. I had originally thought it was from the rear but now sure its front end. Also looked into rear and found no issues, brakes rubbing a tiny bit but probably a normal level.
I have recently had all shocks and springs...
Yeh, did sort of hurt my back. Just put some padding on the door sill and that helps a lot. Used a bendy drill attachment taking off but didn't really use to get the centre screw back on. I used a mini 1/4" drive set I have that fit in nicely. Use some pliers to hold the cracked piece together...
Thanks to all the guys who put up steps and guides to this. Did it upside down from the footwell and sure enough the casing that the cog sits in was split badly. Just used 2 3mm ties which are small but are holding it closed enough. Didn't use any glue yet so I'll wait and see whether it's ok...
